Keira poses nude for art

London, Dec. 14 (PTI): Bend It Like Beckham star Keira Knightley visited the Halcyon Gallery here to pose nude for artist Mitch Griffiths.

“It’s considered a great honour to be painted by Mitch,” a source told Daily Mail. “He is a highly respected nude painter and is painting a number of subjects for an exhibition next year. He is delighted Keira agreed to take part,” the source added.

Griffiths has been commissioned to paint a 12-feet-long canvas of 246 famous people, including Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Will Smith and David Bowie, which will be auctioned.


I wonder why only women pose naked for art's sake.
Isn't the male body too a work of art?
Maybe there aren't sufficient women to paint male art, being prudish and men possibly can't paint male art form as they may be accused of being gay.
Of course it is another matter that most men who dabble in this form of art have an excess of genes which make them favour their own sex.
It may also be one of the reasons why women prefer to go naked in front of male artists since they have nothing to fear from them, knowing their preference.
Or aren't there any buyers for the male art and there are plenty of buyers for the female art?
This is a point worth pondering for the Women's lib people and other people who fight for equality among the sexes.
