Dear All,

Good afternoon!

You all would be happy to know that finally the "BACK TO SCHOOL - 2010" is taking shape. The dates have been frozen as below.
29/10/2010 - Arrival in Kurseong
30/10/2010 - School visit - (Itinenary to be finalised with School, Suggestions at this satge are most welcome)
31/10/2010 - Departure - (Home/ Darjeeling/ Sikkim etc.)
Elaborating further on the above dates:
29/10/2010: The only official program that we can think at the moment is a dinner hosted by ex-students in Kurseong wherin the Principal, some teachers can be invited.

30/10/2010:
1st half - Official program in School (Assembly, addressed by Principal, prominent ex-Goethalite, snacks, interaction amongst the students and ex-students etc.)
2nd half - (cricket match between ex-students and present students)
Evening - Formal interaction amongst ex-students followed by drinks and dinner. The evening program would strictly be for ex-students only.

NOTE:
The 30th program is currently a broad guideline for the day in discussion with Br. D'Souza, current Principal.
The final itenary for the day would be finalised later.
For the expenses to be occured by School, we have suggested that School charge a registration fee per participant. Entry would be for only registered ex-students and family.
We as an Association would not be charging any registration fee BUT participants would be required to fill in a data form.
We as an association may facilitate the required logistics support for our members only.
Also a possibility of this program being repeated on an annual basis with another group taking charge of the program exists.
We are open to suggestions to make this event a memorable one. As such please write back.

Msg from Henry Hulley

Dear Radheshyam,

First of all I send you, your family and all the Goethals family best wishes for Christmas and the new year. May it be filled with love, peace, happiness and good health.
I really enjoy reading your blog which does give us an insight of what is going on.
It is so good to see how the old boys keep in touch and I love seeing photographs and hearing about our dear old school.
Unfortunately the only member of my batch that I know is still alive is KKChirimar, we were well before the computer days. I did meet some of my batch for years in Calcutta - Clinton Dickide, Bobby Mann, Tethong, Gerry Nation and the Tipthorpe brothers to name a few. I would greatly appreciate if anyone who knows how to contact any of the 1953 batch would get in touch with me, I will contact KK shortly.
My goodness how Goethals, Calcutta and Patna have changed, the latter two due to the increased population.
Do the boys still draw the school crest on a white bed sheet and tie it to the front of the engine the last station we stop at before Sealdah station. I can remember the many hours that used to go into drawing the crest especially in `53 when we had all the dormatories to ourselves.
I have many wonderful memories of my days at Goethals even though the mind does not remember everything after 56 years since my last day.
Please keep up the good work.
With all best wishes

Henry Hulley
