BSP MLA’s son opens fire in Delhi bar

In a grim reminder of the Jessica Lall murder case, son of a BSP MLA from UP, accompanied by his wife and sister, allegedly opened fire inside an upmarket bar after an altercation with the bar staff on Wednesday in Kalkaji of Southeast district.

According to the police, the incident occurred following a heated argument the MLA’s son had with the manager of the bar after they claimed that their purse was stolen on Tuesday night when they had come for a dinner.

Manu Sharma, son of a Congress legislator from Haryana, had fired inside the bar Tamarind Court in Mehrauli area killing bar tender Jessica Lall on the spot. Later, Sharma was arrested and is undergoing life sentence for the murder.

The Wednesday’s incident was reported from Mocha Bar located in Satyam Complex at about 11.50 am. A case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of IPC was registered against the MLA’s son, who was arrested after he surrendered before the police late in the evening.

The police have allegedly detained accused’s wife and sister for manhandling Mocha Bar staff. The accused has been identified as Vivek, son of Chandraveer Singh, MLA from Sardana Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh. The two women have been identified as Manisha and Sakshi, daughter and daughter-in-law of the MLA. Manisha works with a retail major in the Capital. The MLA’s family had come to the spot in a white Innova vehicle (registration number: UP 15Z-4599). There was a nameplate on the car on which ‘Vidhayak’ was written.

ACP (Southeast) Virender Singh said the whole drama started after the family misplaced a purse. “Three women, including MLA’s daughter, had come to Mocha Bar on Tuesday night. One of them lost her purse there and returned on Wednesday morning to enquire about it. They had an argument with the staff of the bar. They left the bar at that time and returned with the accused and his wife. The accused opened fire with a pistol and then fled the spot. No one was injured in the incident,” said Singh, adding a manhunt was launched to nab the accused.

Asked if the accused is the son of MLA Chandraveer, Singh added, “He is a son of an MLA but we are verifying the facts.” He, however, confirmed that the car belonged to an MLA.

The bar staff has alleged that the accused manhandled their staff. According to an employee, Vivek allegedly had slapped the manager of the bar, Mrinal, after he prevented him from creating a ruckus inside the bar. “On Wednesday, MLA’s daughter came to the bar and said her purse was stolen on Tuesday night. We told her to ask the staff who were on duty in the night. She first spoke to all the staff. But when she did not get her purse back and shouted at the staff. Mrinal objected to her behaviour, at which she started using abusive language. She then left the bar but returned with her brother,” a staff, adding the CCTV footage in the bar confirms Vivek had a gun in his hand.

Our politicians when they come to ask for our votes say they want an opportunity to serve us.
Then they become the new maharajahs.
They never learn also.
Manu Sharma had been convicted and grant of his parole by Sheila Dixit created such a stink that he had to rush back to jail.
In spite of these precedents, our politicians think they are untouchable by the law and do as they please.
Just as in former days, the royal family used to treat their subjects as dirt, our politicians do the same.
If Brinda Karat was not shedding crockodile yesterday for Ruchika, let us see her take up this case in Parliament.
Just because he is an MLA's son can he use a gun indiscriminately?
Guns are given for self protection and not for firing at persons just because their purse has been lost.
First of all, the gun should be confiscated and no guns should be issued to any member of his family, including his MLA father.
Enough is enough.
We are fed-up of the antics of these corrupt politicians and their wards.
