We still lick Western Boots - Contd

Govt relaxes re-entry visa norms for bonafide tourists

Faced with protests and complaints over tightening of visa regulations, government has decided to relax norms on re-entry into India for bonafide tourists subject to certain conditions.

The relaxation has been made to the guidelines, issued on November four, under which foreigners holding long-term multi-entry tourist visas would have to be out of India for two months before re-entering.

"To facilitate bonafide tourists, it has since been decided that foreigners holding tourist visas, who after initial entry into India plan to visit another country and re-enter India before finally exiting, may be permitted two or three entries, as the case may be, by the Indian Missions/Posts," a Foreign Ministry Spokesman said in a statement.

This will be subject to their submission of a detailed itinerary and supporting documentation (ticket bookings).

"The Immigration authorities in all immigration check posts in India have also been authorized to allow tourists to make two or three entries, as the case may be, based on production of an itinerary and documentation (ticket bookings) substantiating the need for tourism related travel," he said.

The move to relax the guidelines came after the US and the UK voiced concerns over the tightening of the norms resulting in a lot of problems for the travellers.

Just a few days back on the 21st, I had posted "We still lick western boots" telling how we wag our tails and run after the dollar paying Americans.
If any proof was required it is given in the above news item.
One dirty stare from the Americans and the British, we are back to wagging our tails.
All the bravado has vanished.
We have become such an impotent race by our corrupt politicians that we cannot even take any action to protect our countries security, even if we wanted.
We have not installed the technology to check each and every passenger who enters India.
The Americans send back an unwelcome visitor from mid-air if he is found to be suspicious.
We cannot do it for politicians would raise such a row as soon as we start querying a criminal who may be having a Muslim name.
Unless this mindset is rectified, India will never be safe.
The law should be applied uniformly no matter what caste, religion, state or political party you belong to.
Lady justice who carries the balance is supposed to be blind-folded.
However our politicians have opened her eyes and ears and loaded her balance with money to influence her decisions.
