Our President preaches.

President calls for corruption-free governance

Statesman News Service
NEW DELHI, 12 NOV: The President, Mrs Pratibha Patil, today called for corruption-free governance in the country as “like cancer, corruption is that sore which drains the strength of a nation”. Delivering the inaugural UPSC Foundation Day Lecture on “governance and public service” she said, “Corruption has deprived the nation of better infrastructure and better facilities. When only a fraction of the money is spent for the purpose for which it is allocated, the impact is far less than the intended or envisaged.”
For example, the President said, corruption in the public distribution system means that food meant for the poorer sections of society was not reaching them and as a result the national objective of removing poverty and hunger suffered. She said it was good that the Right to Information (RTI) was allowing people to participate in governance. This was important as governance was not just government function but was “partnership” between people and government.
Opaqueness results in red-tapism and unaccountability; there should be transparency in functioning, she added. President Patil said: “Withholding information from the public creates a distance between the civil servant and the people; it results in a gap between those responsible for governing and those for whose benefits the system operates.
Transparency, on the other hand, has a triple impact ~ the civil servants take decision in a manner that can withstand public scrutiny; it allows appreciation of challenges before the government, and institutes a dialogue process. she said. President Patil said the Panchayati Raj Amendments had brought about decentralisation in the administration.
“Whether the training process prepares the individual to take on the responsibilities of public service? Is there regular in-service training for bringing about better performance,” the President asked. The Second Administrative Reforms Commission had studied many of these issues and made valuable recommendations, she said.

What an irony.
This woman who has been shoved down our throats as President talks of corruption free government when she is the personification of corruption.
If we had our choice, we would have made Dr. Abdul Kalam as our President but the madam who heads the congress wanted a pliant robot as President not a thinking man.
Her infamy followed her even before she took up the job but the congress steam-rolled all operation.
Her action in promoting her son to stand for elections through the Congress party even while she was President brought further disgrace to the august office of the President.
It is like the devil preaching to be good.
Thank you Mrs President.
