Kabir Suman Considers Resigning

Suman vows to skip session

Calcutta, Nov. 17: Kabir Suman today said he would skip the Parliament session that starts on Thursday and was “seriously considering” quitting the Trinamul Congress and his post of MP.

The singer told The Telegraph he was disappointed with Mamata Banerjee for calling him a “guest” in the party after his public outburst about Trinamul officials coming in the way of development in his constituency, Jadavpur.

It was the word “guest” that triggered his thoughts of resigning from party and post, said Suman, who will make up his mind after consulting Mamata, Speaker Meira Kumar and the parliamentary affairs ministry.

“I don’t know how an otherwise wonderful leader like Mamata Banerjee can call an elected MP a ‘guest’. I find it surprising,” said Suman, who has cancelled his plan to travel to Delhi tomorrow for Parliament’s winter session.

“Instead of addressing the impediments to development caused by local Trinamul functionaries, I have been called a guest. So, I am seriously reconsidering my continuance as a Trinamul MP.”

On Sunday, Suman had alleged that some party officials in South 24-Parganas wanted to use his MP’s development funds according to their will.

“I fought against the CPM during the elections. After that I got busy fighting local Trinamul leaders, who were clamouring for my MPLAD funds. I tried to pass on the message to Mamata through party leaders like Mukul Roy and Purnendu Bose, but the problems persisted,” he said today.

The first-time MP said he had so far received half his annual quota of Rs 2 crore to spend on his constituency, and was using it to get 44 deep tube-wells installed.

“Work is on in Kheyada II gram panchayat behind Ruby General Hospital, but the local leaders want the funds to go to them. Similarly, I’m having problems in Baruipur because of local Trinamul leaders. I have realised that contesting the election was a mistake,” Suman said.

He said he feared physical attacks from a section of Trinamul leaders. He also accused the Centre of planning a war against tribals in the garb of a crackdown on Maoists.

I believe that any honest man cannot join any of the present political parties as he will have to do the bidding of the political bosses who unfortunately are mostly corrupt.
I had mentioned this when two of the persons who had done well in the Times of India "Lead India" programme joined mainstream political parties, one the BJP and the other BSP.
I don't know whether they won or lost but we don't hear of them.
Suman was knave if he could do as he wanted after winning on the Trinumul ticket.
Mamata Banerjee is more of a dictator than any communist leader of Soviet Russia.
She brooks no dissent.
She selects doctors, engineers and other intellectuals as her candidates but then treats them as door mat. All their professional / intellectual skills are thrown down the drain.I had seen this in the case of the Panja brothers.
If you notice, she has selected only herself for a cabinet post, all the others are minister of states.
DMK,from Tami nadu, with fewer MPs got more cabinet ministers than Mamata.
This is because she did not want anyone to be equal to her.
However, Mr. Suman also should realize that he did not win the elections on his own.
Other Trinumul people canvassed and worked for him.
So if, they have schemes which would benefit the people, he should consider them before outright rejection. The people who worked for him may have also promised the people some facilities. If he does that, then only can he get full co-operation from everybody.
He should just see that the money is used honestly and not misutilized for the personal benefit of party worker.
Let him not be a resigning MP but a reigning MP.
Keep Cool.
Stop arguments.
Look for results, should be his aim.
He will achieve more by working honestly than by resigning.
Mamata realizes that now?
I hope so.

Kabir Suman is no "dudh ki duhule huye "as they say in Hindi.Personally Iam a fan of his but his personal life is a saga of misdeeds and "lust for lust "as they say !! he dumped his devoted wife (a german lady very dedicated) changed his religion to get married to Sabina yasmin bangladeshi singer(the 4th marriage ) He came into the limelight while using the CPIM dias initially and then turned against them.
An oppertunist through out Suman is repeating the saga once again. As regards the siphoning of funds the CPIM has indoctirnated the siphoning into
classy heights which others are following specially at the grassroot level , nothing new!!!
Its infact quite foolish of Mamta to have offered candidature to such a candidate for MP position to represent Jadavpur.
