Statement by Australian Prime Minister, John Howard

I have received this mail today.
I had received this statement of the Australian Prime Minister long time back but did not put it on our blog.
But now, receiving it from one of our boys, I feel I should put it up.
Our boys in Australia could please comfirm whether Prime Minister, John Howard actually made this statement.
It seems Australia has the same problem as India and Nepal.
I just wish our Indian government could act so boldly without having to look over their shoulders whether their vote bank approves.
Since I received this from Thondup, it seems, the Nepalese would also want their leaders should also be more true to their people.

Dear Naren

Don't you think all leaders across the world need to do some plan speakng like this ? Why restrict it to Nepal only ? When religion is made the issue and the dividing factor then it needs plain speaking untill the day their vast silent majority rise up and say with one voice - " No this is not how we feel and we want to live like the rest of our countrymen ". When 5 million of them want Kashmir separated on the basis of religion then what do we do with the " rest " of the 145 million others living in the other parts of the country ? If the 5 million do not care about the fate of their 145 million bretheren then that itself is an indicator. You can read whatever message you want to in it. The last few weeks Sunday edtion of the Times of India has a separate column dedcated to the issue of Islam. It is very well written , erudite and by a respected Muslim writer / journalist. But the thing is do they who matter read and believe what this gentleman says ?
( I thnk it is MJ Akbar ) . The North East has been infested by the influx from Bangladesh - courtesy the previous Congress Govts who wanted to create a solid vote bank. Bengal is flooded with the same - this time courtesy CPIM - again for vote banks. And now there are rumours afoot about creating an Islamistan - a crescent that begns from Siliguri / Jalpaiguri , Dooars and then curves around engulfing all the of the North East . I travel quite often to the North East - presnet public opnion " By the second election, if not by the immediate next ( 2009), the Chief Minister of Assam could very well be an expat from Bangladesh." Muslims from Bangladesh supposedly already decide the fate of more than 5 constituencies in Assam alone !!! So there you have it. I believe that every religion has to be respected...but when one uses religion as a tool for political gains and not for enlightenment then it has to be fought on the same grounds. Tolerance has its limits. Thank you for sending me the mail.....

Nepal Needs A Leader Like This!

Then Prime Minister, John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, Nepali citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.
