India's Moon Mission, was it Necessary?

India’s problems never cease.
Parochialism continues to rule.
After Mamta Banerjee, it is the turn of Raj Thackeray to hawk the news.
His frequent out bursts against Amitabh Bacchan and family and their meek submission to his blackmail has made him uncontrollable.
This was followed by his threat to the management of Jet Airways who too succumbed to his threat although the owner, Naresh Goyal, made it appear that he was taking a father’s view of the plight of the employees whose services had been terminated.
How cheap mothers have become?
The owner had to swear by his mother that he was taking this decision on his own, without any pressure.
All the more reason not to believe him.
I knew one person who swore by his eyes, another person by Ma Kali, another person, a Brahmin, by his sacred thread and another person by Saraswati (Godess of Learning), by holding a book, any book, while swearing.
All these people use external aids to convince people of the veracity of their statement when for a gentleman, his plain statement should be sufficient.
I am digressing.
I was talking of the imbecile, known as Raj Thackeray.
Students from Bihar going to appear in railway exams were beaten up by his gang of supporters and later on he went on TV stating that this would be the treatment of anybody who came to Maharashtra for jobs.
This is the unity of India for which Sardar Patel worked tirelessly.
The Congress Party which in power in Maharashtra would have glossed over this aberration of Raj Thackeray but it would have been at the cost of losing the support of Lalu Yadav who threatened the Congress to take action against the culprit otherwise….. The rest was left unsaid. The congress has taken action. They have arrested Raj Thackeray and filed 25 cases against him. Cases, which should have been filed two years ago, are now being filed. That should keep the Thackeray from causing mischief for quite some time. Did I hear better late than never?
Earlier too this same person had made derogatory statements against the people of Bihar and UP during their Chhat festival. However, at that time Lalu did not take it seriously as there was no violence.
But, what I do not understand is how the courts of the land can grant bail to a person who is inciting violence and it has all the records from television channels. Our courts are too lenient and are partly to blame for all the trouble going on all over India.
These persons should be kept under solitary confinement to cool them down, whether it is Raj Thackeray or anybody from any party.
Naturally there would be repercussions in Bihar.
Trains have been stopped in Bihar, passengers told to get out, and bogies have been set on fire.
The government is trying to control a riot like situation
With temperatures in Bihar rising high and the Biharis being known for their hot-headedness, I am surprised this person is still alive.
From West we go to East.
The Gorkhaland agitation too has had its repercussions, as expected it would.
The CPM cadres have stopped vehicles from going to Darjeeling and one of the first victims seems to have been some persons from Goethals.
I give below verbatim what was given in the Telegraph of 23.10.2008
“The CPM trade union members ransacked three vehicles and deflated the tyres of 10 others to enforce a strike on vehicles going to the hills. CITU workers overturned an ambulance in Siliguri that was carrying a 90-year old asthma patient to the hills.
Inside the ambulance were 90-year old Brother Thomas, James Joseph and Valentine Gahatraj of Goethals Memorial School in Kurseong.
They were told to come out of the vehicle with their luggage,” Brother Thomas is a 90-year old diabetic and asthma patient. He was discharged from a nursing home in Siliguri today” Joseph said.”
I have said earlier that politicians are the worst persons on earth, worse than prostitutes.
Whether it is Congress, BJP, CPM, Shiv Sena, RJD, SP, BSP,Muslim League, they are all brushed with the same cellpool brush.
They care nothing for human life.
Supporters are just used as canon fodder.
When will the supporters realize this and start beating up the politicians?
All the above made me forget one big achievement that India has made.
We have sent an unmanned spacecraft to the moon.
But my pride gets tempered when I realize that 300 million of our populations are living below the poverty line, earning less than Rs 300 per month, I ask myself, was it necessary?
Shouldn’t we have spent that money in improving their lot?

Radheshyam
