London, 18 OCT: If it had been Shah Rukh Khan in the none too distant past, it was David Beckham (internet photo, right) who was obliged to take it in his stride the other day. Airports in the paranoiac US of A, which once actively but secretively encouraged fundamentalism of the religious sort, are now distrustful even of the world's A-list celebrities. They don't seem to know where to stop.
Soccer star David Beckham was held up for three hours at the Los Angeles airport as his bags were searched.
The 34-year-old footballer, who flew in from London on Thursday, was fretting and fuming when customs at the airport pulled his 12 holdalls apart, reported Sun Online.
“David wasn't pleased. He ranted at airport security. He even asked his handlers to do something but there was nothing they could do,” said a source. The previous night he played for England against Belarus at Wembley and then went out to celebrate with his friend Dave Gardner at London's Nobu and Bungalow 8 until 3 a.m.
Being an English footballer, Beckham has been staying in the US for quite sometime now with his wife, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, and two sons. He plays for the American Major League Soccer club Los Angeles Galaxy and the England national team.
In August, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours at Newark airport.

Sharukh Khan and his fans must be rubbing their hands in glee saying,"I told you", at the treatment meted out to Beckham.
Some people may even call the USA paranoid.
But I consider, it is better to be paranoid and save your country from a repeat of WTC chapter than to appear broadminded and allow any Amar, Akbar or Anthony to enter your country to create havoc.
Better to be safe then sorry.
Now, I hope the people will stop accusing the USA for targeting the Muslim community.
Beckham by no stretch of imagination has a Muslim sounding name.
