BSP has 63 MLAs with criminal past

SO MUCH FOR LAW AND ORDER
Though Mayawati's poll plank was law and order, her party gave tickets to 131 candidates with criminal records in the 2007 assembly elections. Of the 131, 63 are now MLAs, including 33 with two or more criminal cases pending against them, including those of murder, rape, dacoity, rioting and kidnapping. Nine ministers in her cabinet are facing charges of corruption and other crimes.
The chief minister herself has set a target of Rs.1000 crores to be collected for her birthday on 15th January because she is a poor lady with only a diamond necklace worth Rs.35 lacs. A TV channel has shown BSP supporters going around the streets with begging bowls 'COLLECTING' donations from people for their poor 'Bahena'. Such a farcical political drama you won't find anywhere in the world. This is an item for Guiness Book or Ripley's Believe It or Not.
Mayawati is dreaming to be the Prime Minister of India some day in the near future. And the most surprising element is that several political parties are fertilising that dream. What a tragedy for India ! We don't have a single political leader in the country whom the people can trust, have complete faith on. We don't have a single leader with courage, personality, charisma and with a mission. People with a mission like Ranjan Guha Neogie, worked for the underprivileged, downtrodden tribals of Bastar. We all know what happened to him. He was killed by BJP goons, because what he stood and worked for went against the advantage of the business and trading community. A.N.Ray, CPM MP from Dhanbad, made it his mission to unite the working class against the mafia. Mission unaccomplished, just like Neogie's.
The Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, is a big crook. Involved in a fodder scam of Rs.600 crores. Jailed, but still reigning supreme. He said, when he was caught, that everybody steals, so I also stole. So, what's the big deal ? I believe the CBI has suggested in withdrawing the case against him. He' the hero of Bihar. The political joker of India. In India, one has to be a big crook or a murderer to get a ticket for the elections. That is the primary qualification. Because there are crores of rupees to be syphoned from the government funds. The mission for the MPs and MLAs is operation loot. The aam aadmi can go to hell.
