Modern Day Animal Farm - 3
In my post on 1st Dec 2007, “Modern Day Animal Farm 2”, I had expressed my doubts regarding the integrity of our present President.
She had been mired in controversy even before she became President.
Her election was the result of underhand agreements between the various constituents of the UPA to keep the incumbent President Dr. Abdul Kalam Azad, a very able man of integrity, from having a second term.
You cannot keep a dog’s tail straight no matter how long you may have kept it in straightjacket.
Well our President has kept low for some six months since her election.
The last few days headlines in The Telegraph has shown that in spite of becoming the President of the largest democracy in the world, she and her family have not given up their corrupt ways.
Her son has gone on a personal business trip from Mexico to USA while he was on an official visit with his mother, at taxpayer’s expense.
Many may consider this is a very small matter.
But it becomes a very serious matter when the Chief Executive of a Country perpetrates it.
Remember, Richard Nixon lost his Presidency just because three burglars had entered the National Democratic Committee offices. The Committee to Re-elect President Nixon employed the burglars The arrest of the burglars showed the involvement of President Nixon and his aides in extensive cover-up of the break-in and other White house sanctioned illegal activities.
Our President was involved in various doubtful activities even before she became President and should not have been considered for the post at all.
However, Sonia Gandhi wanted a pliant President who would sign along the dotted line, with no awkward questions being asked.
A leopard never changes its spots and habits die hard.
Our President is back to her old ways.
When the President, under whose oath the complete government functions, has doubts cast on her integrity, how can you expect a corruption free administration.
Why blame poor Man Mohan Singh, our Prime Minister, who himself is a very able and honest man caught between two scheming women.
