Pitching stones from Glass houses

BSP using criminals against opponents: BJP

Statesman News Service
NEW DELHI, April 18: The BJP today launched an all-out attack on the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) accusing it of giving patronage to criminals in Uttar Pradesh. The party accused Miss Mayawati of fielding criminals in the Lok Sabha polls and using them against its political opponents in the state.
The BJP spokesman, Mr Balbir Punj, sought to highlight the alleged killing of the Indian Justice Party (IJP) candidate Bahadur Sonkar. He said the BJP suspected the BSP candidate, Mr Dhananjay Singh, might have played a role in the murder. He charged the state government with trying to project the killing of IJP candidate as a case of suicide. He alleged that the Mayawati government was not only using criminal elements against her political opponents but also misusing official machinery for the purpose. He demanded a CBI probe into the incident.
According to the BJP, about a dozen candidates facing various criminal charges including from murder, extortion and kidnapping had been fielded by the BSP. The party released the names of about 15 BSP candidates with criminal background. They are Mukhtar Ansari (Varanasi), D P Yadav (Sambhal), S P Singh Baghel (Firozabad), Kadir Rana (Mujaffarnagar), Vinay Shakya (Mainpuri), Islam Shabbir Ansari (Bareily), Swami Prasad Morya (Kushinagar), Rizwan Zahir (Shravasti), Ram Kumar (Hardoi), Girish Chandra (Kaushambi), Rakesh Pandey (Ambedkar Nagar), Mohammad Tahir (Sultanpur), Afzal Ansari (Gazipur), Kunwar Shivraj Singh (Anwala) and Arun Shankar Shukla (Unnav). The BJP appealed to voters to vote against the “Mafia Raj” of Ms Mayawati in UP.

Election time is a great leveller.
During normal times Mr Balbir Punj would be breaking bread with the 15 people given in the list at some dhaba.
However, being election time, he is opening the cupboard to show the skeletons in Mayawati's cupboard.
I hope now somebody from Mayawati's party will open the BJP cupboard and show their skeletons.
It has been said that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. But this being election time and the prize money being high they can afford to throw stones, boulders and shit.
Why haven't the BJP and other parties approached the Election commission and the courts to prevent these criminals from contesting?
It is because all parties, without exception, have fielded criminals.

BSP lash at Congress party

Basti/Mangaldoi (Assam), Apr 19 (ANI): The Congress party is facing attacks from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Addressing a rally in Basti of Uttar Pradesh, BSP president Mayawati blamed Congress leaders for wooing aboriginal inhabitants and poor with fake promises.

Without naming Congress party general secretary Rahul Gandhi, who had visited poor and downtrodden in the past, Mayawati said dining and sleeping with aboriginal inhabitants would not wipe out their poverty and unemployment.

"I want to say this to the leader of the Congress party that by visiting the houses of aboriginal inhabitants and poor, and sleeping with them, and by hugging their children, will not wipe out their poverty and unemployment," she said.

Congress party is facing desertion.

"Today, all are deserting the Congress and they are calling it a divorce. The Congress party is standing lonely in Indian politics.
Mr. Rahul admits that though his father worked with both the hands did not develop Ameti. The Congress Party for the last 61 years were just talking of poverty alivation. Whereas Mayawati is saying only what she is doing.

With just one palm the Congress can do nothing even he it ruled for 100 years. Because there are only two categories of men one is Gentlemen and the other is Congressmen.

Italian born Ms. Gandhi was conferred the “Order of Leopold,” Belgium’s second highest civilian award and an honorary doctorate during her visit to Brussels in November 2006.The Congress and the BJP jointly prevented her becoming Prime Minister because of her Foreign Origin.

Now she is talking about Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and Jyotiba Phule for their contribution, for which Maywati, the only Chief Minister who put up large-size statues in this state capital in order to make the present and future generations to make them to know the contributions made by the backward and Scheduled Caste leaders to the downtrodden. The Congress in their 61 years of rules never bothered about the contribution of such leaders including Ms. Mayawati, who is sure to become the Prime Minister, who will instal such atatues in all the capitals of this great Prabuddha Bharat.

But one thing she has rightly said about those who should have been behind bars are now candidates of her own party. May be out of frustration that the Congress and the BJP would never make her the Prime Minister.

PAN report

The Congress candidates lead the pack in this segment party wise. The report states that 27 Congress candidates have not furnished their PAN card details. The BJP is second with 30 candidates. However, there are 515 independent candidates out of the 619 in the first phase who have not furnished their PAN details.

Bangalore police take T. Prakash Reddy into custody in 1997 attack case

ANANTAPUR: A day before Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s whirlwind election tour of the district the Congress suffered a moral blow with the Bangalore city police arresting party candidate for Rapthadu Assembly constituency, T. Prakash Reddy, in connection with a 1997 attack and attempt to murder case, here on Sunday.

A Peenya police team led by Inspector Srinivas Reddy took away Mr. Reddy to Bangalore amid tight security. He was produced before First Fast Track Sessions Court Judge Savitri Vinayaka at her residence, who remanded him to judicial custody.
Arrest warrant

According to the district police, the Bangalore police team armed with a pending arrest warrant against Mr. Reddy arrived in the town on Sunday morning, met SP M.K. Singh and accompanied by local DSP B. Satyanarayana Rao, One Town CI K. Rajeswar Reddy and others went to the house of the candidate in the Housing Board Colony and arrested him.

The police said Mr. Prakash Reddy was one of the 10 persons accused in the assault and acid hurling case on one Krishnamurthy in connection with a land dispute in 1997. Krishnamurthy had filed a complaint with the Peenya police who had registered cases under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 307 (attempt to murder), 109 (abetment), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and Section 149 of the IPC.

Though others in the case were arrested by the police long ago, the Bangalore police failed to arrest Mr. Prakash Reddy as he was ‘not traceable’. A fast track court in Bangalore had declared him ‘proclaimed offender’ a few years ago.

The Bangalore police were forced to act now on the directions of the Election Commission to execute all pending arrest warrants.
The campaign of the Congress candidate is likely to suffer with only two days left for close of electioneering and four days left for polling. Besides, Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy is scheduled to conduct a road show in Rapthadu on Monday evening along with eight other election meetings in the district.

Criminal background

The total number of candidates with criminal background who will be contesting the elections are 222. The Congress leads the pack with 24 candidates while the BJP is a close second with 23.

All candidates put together have 206 charges of heinous nature which include murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping and extortion.

Maharashtra with 42 while Andhra Pradesh with 34 is fourth.
