AAP - 3rd List of Candidates for 2014 Lok Sabha Elections

1. Dr. Prabhat Ranjan Das - Darbhanga

A medical doctor by profession. He's an MBBS, MD, PhD, worked for a long time in New York and New Jersey, while working in the USA, a regular visitor to Darbhanga for social causes, used to contribute a fixed portion of his income to social causes, helped in establishing more than 300 village libraries, his own-funded NGO organises training programs for students and teachers, settled in Darbhanga for the last 2 years engaged in social work, active supporter of Anna movement and AAP activities.

2. Savita Bhatti - Chandigarh

She is a noted stage artist, who has also been working for social causes and eradication of superstition from the society. Savita has perfomed in TV serials also and has been active in trying to convey a message of harmony and peace. She has been continuing with the unfinished endevaours of her late husband and noted artist Mr Jaspal Bhatti

3. Prof Anand Kumar - North East Delhi

He is professor of sociology in Jawaharlal University. He has taught in many Universities all over the world besides prestigious Universities like JNU and BHU. Professor Anand Kumar is associated with Students movement and have worked on social, political and democratic front.

4. Mahender Singh - North West Delhi

A social activist who has been working for the upliftment of weaker sections of society in the national capital. He has been actively associated as a volunteer since the Janlokpal movement in 2011 and was among the active campaigners for the party in the Delhi assembly elections. He is part of a social organisation which organises marriages of girls belonging to poor and downtrodden sections, and runs a campaign against social evils like dowry and child marriage.

5. Sarah Joseph - Thrissur

She is a known novelist and short story writer in Malayalam. She has served as the Professor of Malayalam. She won the Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for her novel Aalahayude Penmakkal (Daughters of God the Father). She has been awarded many other awards for her literary works. She has been at the forefront of the feminist movement in Kerala and is the founder of Manushi – organisation of thinking women. She is a well known social activist who has raised her voice against the atrocities against the common people.

6. Ajit Joy - Thiruvannanthapuram

Shri Ajit Joy, is a retired IPS Officer who took retirement from service in 2004 after serving the police department for 11 years. From 2005 to 2013, he worked in United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime. He did his LLB from Govt College Thiruvananthapuram and LLM from Harvard Law School, Massachusetts, USA. During Delhi assembly elections, he left his assignment with UN and joined AAP. He worked during the Delhi election as a volunteer in Greater Kailas Constituency and the Legal Cell. After the Delhi elections, he is actively involved with the AAP activities in Thiruvananthapuram district.

7. Rachna Dheengra - Bhopal

Studied Business Management from the University of Michigan (USA) and worked with Accenture Consulting. In 2002, she resigned from her job and came to Bhopal to work in support of the Bhopal survivors’ struggle for justice and a life of dignity. As a member of the Bhopal Group for Information and Action for the last 10 years Rachna has taken part in legal actions, community mobilisation and media presentations on issues of the disaster in Bhopal locally, nationally and internationally. Rachna has been a keen and effective RTI activist for the last 8 years. Rachna was awarded the 'Woman of the Year' by the India Today magazine in 2010, in the category of public service.

8. Anil Trivedi - Indore

Anil Trivedi has been fired by the ideals of Gandhi, Lohia and Jay Prakash and participated in Sarvoday movement and Sampoorna Parivartan in his youth. He got booked under MISA during Emergency and remained in Jail for 19 months during which he wrote his law examinations. Now a senior lawyer from the High Court in Indore, Anil Trivedi is well-known for being a crusader for social justice in Madhya Pradesh. He has fought numerous cases for Adivasi rights, Dam oustees from different parts of Madhya Pradesh, against slum demolitions and on environmental issues. In his most recent Public Interest Litigation he represented 29 villages which were being coercively included in the Indore Municipal Corporation and successfully won the battle for these villages.

9. Rajesh Sareram - Betul (ST)

Rajesh belongs to a family of educationists and he has been a school teacher himself. He has been working very closely with the tribal youth in Betul for the last 20 years. He has been preparing tribal youth for UPSC and MP PSC and other government jobs totally free of cost. He is a respected young man in the villages of Betul.

10. Maya Vishwakarma - Hoshangabad

Maya is a farmer’s daughter who did her schooling from her village in Narsinghpur and yet she could move out to do her Masters in Biochemistry. She earned Junior Research fellowship from All India Institute of Medical Science. She presented a paper in America and then worked as Senior Research associate in the University of California and then started working voluntarily with Stanford hospital. She got her imaginations fired by Anna Andolan which she supported from the US. She has now moved back to her village in Narsinghpur and is working full-time with the Aam Aadmi Party.

11. Pankaj Singh - Sidhi

From a rural background in Rewa-Sidhi area, Pankaj did his undergraduate degree from the Banaras Hindu University in 2003-2006 and worked in Delhi for 3 years with well-known NGO 'Hazard Centre'. Thereafter, he did a Masters in Social Work from TISS (Mumbai) where he received the award for being the 'Best Community Mobiliser'. Pankaj went back to Madhya Pradesh and has been working with the local community in the Mahaan Sangharsh Samiti, in their struggle against the allocation of Mahaan coal blocks to Essar and Hindalco.

12. Shailendra Singh Kushwaha - Guna

Shailendra has been running an NGO for the last 15 years working in the area of health and education for children and women. He got associated with Anna movement and then joined Aam Aadmi Party and worked relentlessly to build the organization in MP specifically in Gwalior and Chambal division.

13.Atul Mishra - Sagar

He is a lawyer who has been compassionately working with the downtrodden and the last mant. He has been actively participating in corruption eradication movement via the 'Bhrashtachaar Nivaaran Jan kalyaan Manch' which brought to light numerous cases of corruption in Sagar including a long battle against irregularities in procurements in Sagar University, which culminated in CBI raid in the University after many years of struggle. He has also been associated with vaccination campaigns for children.

14. Bismaya Mahapatra - Bhubaneswar

Presently working as the state secretary AAP, Odisha. After his masters in Msc and management he has been a developmental worker since the 1990s. He started his work in PRADAN (a National level NGO) and worked in the field of livelihood promotion. Then he had a brief stint in TCS but left it and founded Harsha Trust, a not for profit development organisation in 2002.The trust is doing pioneering work by encouraging the professionals to work at the grassroots. It has now over 100 dedicated professionals working in remote tribal areas in 7 districts across 14 blocks of Odisha. Right now he has set up "Renaissance strategic and management services pvt ltd." an organisation for systematic and holistic rehabilitation of tribal populations displaced by industry.

15. Dr. Dhanada Kanta Mishra - Behrampur

Dr. Dhanada Kanta Mishra is an academician, administrator and serial entrepreneur in his professional and social sector. His educational qualifications include B. Tech (Civil) from Regional College of Engineering (REC), Trichy; M. Tech (Structural Engineering) from University of Oklahoma (USA); and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor, Michigan) in the field of Civil engineering Materials. Dr. Mishra has held several positions of academic and administrative responsibility over the years. He was the Dean (Research and Industrial Coordination) at the KIIT University and Principal of JITM,Paralakhemundi. He was also a Trustee of CSREM and Director (R&D) of JITM besides playing a key role in setting up of the Centurion University, Centurion Public School, Centurion ITC and AID Rural Technology Resource Center and ITC in Parlakhemundi. Dr. Mishra has previously worked with national and international organizations of repute including Rocla Technology, Guildford (Australia) and Associated Cement Companies India Limited (ACC). Currently he also serves as the Director (Academics) of KMBB College of Engineering.

16. Dr.Bikash Das - Cuttack

Dr.Bikash Das, a widely known human right activist cum Lawyer of Odisha has been consistently working over last two decades for realization of human right through the means of law. Born in a family of freedom fighters and life long Sarvodaya activists, Dr.Das extensively works towards elimination of injustice and promotion of justice by way of human right lawyering initiative through his organization CLAP. Presently he is the president of CLAP, which is one of the oldest legal aid oriented human right organization of India. Dr.Das served as the Advisor to the Supreme Court Commissioner on Right to Food between 2003 – 2006. He was also appointed as the Commission of enquiry by the Govt. of Odisha to investigate into irregularities in food security schemes. He has a Ph.D in Law and Governance from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi.

17. Jimuta Prasad Mishra - Dhenkanal

He has done his M.Phil in International politics from JNU, New Delhi. Since the last 12 years he has engaged himself in developmental sector and has a number of research publications to he credit. He has been active in documentation and research and also is known as an RTI activist in the state. He was working from the platform of Odisha Soochana Adhikar Mancha.

18. Mamata Kundu - Balasore

Mamata Kundu a graduate from Utkal University, Vani Vihar is a Homemaker and a social activist. She is very concerned about the corrupt system around and has a dream of realizing a corruption-free India. With her experience of social work as a member of Air Force wives’ Welfare Association” she joined the Jana Lokpal Movement and later on got fully involved in the Aam Aadmi Party as an active member. She has been instrumental in organization building activities of the party in Balasore district of Odisha.

19. Satya Mahar - Kalahandi

He is a social activist and is the leader of Sachetan Nagarik Manch (a citizen forum working for development of Kahahandi ). He is a prominent face in the Niyamgiri Protest movement which works for protection of the Niyangiri hills and livelihood of the tribals. He is a steadfast source of resistance for the last 12 years against the corporate attack on the environment and tribal livelihood. He has played vital role in all the people’s movement in the state of Odisha and has been an inspiration for the youth and local tribal.

20. Nirada Barana Khuntia - Puri

As a student leader elected student general secretary of Nimapada College. Was a leader in the All Odisha student strike in 1982 for student’s rights like protection, hostel facilities, scholarship to poor student. Worked as a Lecturer in Nimapada college since 1988 to 2007. During that period got National award for social service and volunteerism by Government of India. In 2007 contested as Chairman of Nimapada Panchayat Samiti and later joined as program coordinator of NSS training centre. Leading the training of 2000 NSSS program officers all over Odisha.
