Msg from Karanvir mehta

Dear Radheshyam,

Thanks for the weekly update again. Just a note - "Two Sides of the World" was not sent by me though it reflects my thoughts and feelings on the subject.
Kind regards
Karan

18th MARCH 09

Dear Partho,

Post the telecon of last night and your nephew's comment on the above poem all I can add is this

a. Yes, your nephew could be absolutely correct in the geneology of the poem and that it is a very sanitised version of a SAHIB-ONLY-AND-BUGGER-THE-REST-ODE to the
poor sods they sent off from the shores of Dover ( now you know the secret behind
the Calcutta Bengalee's obsession with Dover, DOVER LANE, dover road, drove her
mad !!!!! ) to rape Africa but got slaughtered by the poor savage Zulus.

b. But then that in no way should detract even an iota of the sense and emotion potrayed. If nothing at all...take the sentiment expressed in the last 4 lines ... "If you can fill the unforgiving minute...." Don't you think that the last line expresses a part of the answer that all of us seek " What is the purpose of life ?" In Part it is to live such that one is fit to be called a MAN. ( My sincerest apologies to the ladies but then the
mistake is due to the age old use of the word and not a gender bias )

It is a very inspiring poem and regardless of it's history I thank you and Sir for having sent it.You know they have a saying in TIBETAN.... " Do not drink poison just because it has been offered by your mother, Do not throw away gold just because it has been offered by your enemy". So I DO NOT THINK I shall let the "lineage" of the poem prejudice me.

This,(IF), I would think is a compulsory read.

I read it today in a blog of my school (Goethals/Kurseong) posted by a highly respected & much loved class teacher of ours,

Mr Mathew Lobo who now lives in Perth/Australia.

Thank you Sir Matt.

Regards/Partha

Like it or not, Five Jewish men influenced the history of Human Civilization and Thought considerably :

1. Moses said: The Law is Everything.
2. Jesus said : Love is Everything.
3. Marx said : Capital is Everything.
4. Freud said: Sex is Everything.

5. Einstein said : Everything is relative.

Do you agree ???

EXERCISE FOR PEOPLE OVER 50

Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side.
With a 5-lb potato bag in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax.
Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer. After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-lb potato bags.
Then try 50-lb potato bags and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-lb potato bag in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)
After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each bag.
