New Delhi, Dec 1 (ANI): Amid reports that Australia has given the thumbs up to a proposal for a trilateral security dialogue with India and US, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that India is unaware of any proposal on trilateral pact with US and Australia.
"We have seen media reports about the comments attributed to the Australian Foreign Minister Mr. Kevin Rudd on a possible three-way economic and security pact with the US and India. We are not aware of any such proposal," said MEA official spokesperson Vishnu Prakash.
According to reports, Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd on Wednesday said that a trilateral security pact was worth exploring because 'from little things big things grow'.
Rudd in an interview with the Australian Financial Review newspaper said: "The response from the Indian Government has really been quite positive." (ANI)
If the above is true, which I can presume it is, it would be in the best interest of both India and Australia.
All parties prefer to go into the denial mode when asked any question and our government which is plagued by controversial issues which they have mishandled would not want to raise a fresh issue.
The other countries like Japan, Philipines, Vietnam, Burma and Cambodia should also be roped into the pact.
China should be made to realize that it cannot bulldoze everyone.
