Patna high court issues notice to Maharashtra in Rahul Raj killing case
Patna, (Bihar Times): The single bench of Justice A K Tripathi of Patna High Court on Friday issued notices to the Maharashtra government and Mumbai police commissioner and sought their reply to a writ petition that has sought a CBI or judicial probe into the last year’s encounter in Mumbai, which led to the killing of Rahul Raj, a Patna youth.
The petition was filed by Rahul’s father Kundan Prasad Singh, alleging that police killed his son in a “fake encounter” in Mumbai on October 10, 2008. The court also directed the CBI and the Central government to file a counter affidavit to the writ petition.
The counsel of petitioner, Shailendra Kumar Sinha, submitted before the court that the petitioner on December 1, 2008 sent representations to the Maharashtra CM and Mumbai police commissioner, seeking justice. The petitioner also requested the Mumbai police to give him the post-mortem report, forensic report and a CD of the videographed post-mortem of Rahul, but the Mumbai police did not bother to oblige him.
The petitioner also sent representations to the President and Prime Minister, demanding a CBI or judicial inquiry into the encounter, but to no avail, the counsel added
I was just wondering how much better off the world or India would have been if instead of Rahul Raj, the imbecile Raj Thackeray had been shot by the police.
