BJP seeks probe against Congress over various scams

New Delhi, Oct 26 (ANI): Backing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Nitin Gadkari over the graft allegations levelled against him, senior party leader Nirmala Sitharaman has sought a probe against the ruling Congress party over diverse scams.

Talking to media here, Sitharaman criticised Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for what she called 'cowardly behaviour' against graft cases levelled against the government.

"In all fairness, it is important for us to recognise that here was a party president, who came himself to the media and answered questions, so I don't think that you should hold that against him. He has come. On the contrary, since, it is a political atmosphere in which we are talking and they are talking about the president of the party, who or on whom, there are questions being asked, the same doesn't seem to apply to any other party," she said.

"The same doesn't seem to apply to the Congress party, on whom, not just one person but several ministers have been asked questions. I am tempted to ask that did anyone of them come one on one to face the media and answer questions, which are being raised,"she added.

Sitharaman questioned how many ministers of the Congress party had intimated probe against themselves on various scams.

"Let us ask the Congress as to how many of them are inviting probe on allegation which are thrown at them. Let us hear from the Congress, how many of them are willing to come and speak out. Is there anybody coming to answer on these the specific list of items that I have given to you-Coalgate, cash for vote, 2G, Commonwealth Games, Aircel-Maxis, ISRO-Devas, all during the UPA-II time. Tell me how many Congress ministers have invited probe," she asked.

According to the report in the media, 18 companies which own 80 percent of the shares in Purti Group, owned by Gadkari, are not located on the addresses mentioned on the website of the company.

Managing director of Purti group, Sudhir Dive had out rightly dismissed corruption allegations against Gadkari, adding that he resigned from the company 14 months ago.

Congress leader, Digvijay Singh had written a petition to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sought that the BJP chief should be probed on fraud charges.

Earlier Anjali Damania, close aide of anti-graft crusader cum politician Arvind Kejriwal had alleged that Gadkari had acquired 100 acre of farmers' land through dubious means for his private trust although he refuted these charges. (ANI)

I agree with the BJP.

For a start, they should start with probing Sharad Pawar and his family including daughter Supriya Sule and Ajay Pawar who resigned. Resignation is no punishment. A thorough enquiry should be made.

Also under probe should be Robert Vadra and Salman Khurshed

Will the Congress do so?
