The CBI, a pet poodle of the centre

Centre using CBI, says Nitish Kumar

PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday accused the Centre of using the CBI and asked why it had not given permission to the investigating agency to challenge a trial court order acquitting Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad in an assets case.

His comment came in the wake of the Supreme Court holding that the Bihar government could not appeal in place of the CBI against the acquittal of Mr. Prasad and his wife Rabri Devi in the disproportionate assets case.

“The way the Centre is using the CBI has dented people's faith in it [the CBI],” he said. “Now it is for the Centre to clarify why it didn't give permission to the CBI for challenging the acquittal of Mr. Prasad in the assets case,” he said.

This is further to my earlier posts regarding the CBI.
I am glad a politician, Nitish Kumar, now agrees that the centre is using the CBI.
But when Nitish Kumar himself is at the centre, will he refrain from using the CBI.
When politicians are in the opposition they speak in a different voice and when they are in power, the speak otherwise.
All political parties should arrive at a consensus to make the CBI completely independent like the FBI in USA.
Then only will the people have faith again on the CBI.
