Leeches, Vampires and other Blood Suckers - The Politicians

Which is the oldest profession in the world?
I know what most of you will say.
No, it is not prostitution.
It is politics.
How ?
I'll explain.
When Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, created by God, were living happily in the Garden of Eden, a politician by the name of Satan came to Eve and convinced her to eat the forbidden fruit of knowlege.
Ever since then, the politician has been representing the dark and evil forces, call him the Devil or Satan, whatever you want,in this world.In the bible he is aptly pictured as a snake.
God has created the Universe.
He created both the good and the evil.
Why both?
I suppose, to provide contrast.
Unless you know what is evil, you will not be able to appreciate what is good.
This contrast exists throughout our life.
We have the day when we can work and the night when we can rest.
We have cold and hot weather, to appreciate the other when we have one.
We have the wet and dry spells to curse each when we face them.
Spring and Autumn is too fleeting for one to enjoy.
We forget to enjoy either, thinking summer will follow spring and winter will follow Autumn.
We know that death follows life again followed by life. I believe in reincarnation.
It is easier to explain why some people are born and live so well off and others spend the whole life in poverty.
If you think about it, the hands of God are so invisible that people begin to think there is no God until they face some real problem and them invoke His name.
If one would like to see the hands of God, he should look at our sun.
The sun has been the source of all life on our earth.
Our Earth was also a part of the sun, so scientists tell us. I was not there so I cannot vouch for it.
So after giving birth to the earth, it has been the source of all our energy.
Just think of it.
There has been no addition to the earth since then.
With the exception of one large meteor which bumped into our earth and created the Ice Age and caused the demise of the original inhabitants of this earth, the dinosaurs.
The energy which we get from the bowels of the earth is also because of the ice age.
So the energy from the sun and every other thing which is provided by the earth is also from the sun.
I suppose, that is why we Hindus worship the sun.
But, I am digressing.
I started out with lambasting the politician and now I am rambling about dinosaurs.
I for one and I am sure many will agree with me that, the world would be a better place if the politicians had become extinct like the dinosaurs.
But unfortunately, we have to bear with them.
Inspite of "Nandigram".
Yes, that is my topic of discussion today.
I don't suppose any other animal has such a thick hide as a politician, not even the rhino.
The difference between a prostitute and a politician is very minor.I'll enumerate the differences and similarities.

Sells her body for money	Sells his allegiance for money
Allows her body to be ravaged	Ravages the nation
Has no feelings for her customers	Has no feeling for the nation
Wears good clothes and make up	Wears white khadi clothes Nehru Topi to hide the wickedness inside.The present ones wear Safari

There is no difference between the politicians, no matter which party he belongs to.
They are all of the same feather.
They will fight and abuse each other during the day and break bread at night over a glass of the best ....
The fight and abuse is just to fool the people.
For a politican there is no black and white. Everthing is grey.
It depends on which side you are sitting, The government or the opposition.
During the Godhra massacre, Mrs Sonia Gandhi and the whole congress party and communists fell over each other visiting Gujarat mouthing sympathy for the affected muslims. Hardly any BJP leaders visited Gujarat.
Cut. Now come to Nandigram.
Again muslims are being massacred but this time Mrs Sonia Gandhi is conspicuous by her absence. Not even a whimper from her. Nor any visit by any other congressman or Communists. Why? Because the perpetrators of this massacre are party workers of the CPM, who are also muslims and so there cannot be any vote bank politics.
Wait a minute. What about the BJP.
They came with a high power delegation to visit Nandigram.
Have you noticed. "Bofors", Sonia Gandhi's nationality and Ram Janambhumi always comes up just before the elections
So we have a soft spoken prime minister whose heart bleeds for muslims and would not like to call criminals by their religion, a president from Gujarat, land of Mahatma Gandhi and the Governor of W Bengal who happens to be the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, acquiescing in this heinous crime.
The Governor made a feeble unconvincing protest.
If the Mahatma was there, he would have resigned in anguish.
But we cannot relinquish our chairs with the perks and benefits.Can we?
The very birth of our nation was mired in politics.
Mahatma Gandhi made an issue of it and would not allow Subhash Chandra Bose to take charge although he beat Tandon in the elections.
He also favoured Mr Nehru over Mr Vallabhbhai Patel as Mr Patel was more straightforward and did not curry favour with the Mahatma.
When corruption first raised its head after independence, Mr Nehru compromised and turned a blind eye to it instead of crushing it.
Now, we have criminals who are politicians and politicians who are criminals. The thin line dividing them has vanished.
Earlier, politicians used to take the help of criminals to win elections.
The criminals soon caught on. Why should they help the politicians to win? Why not fight the elections himself. Now we have criminals fighting elections from all parties and shamelessly 60 to 70% of our legislators have criminal records.
Name the crime, we have politicians who have committed it.
Earlier, the politician always got away scot free. But now thanks to an active judiciary, politicians have started being jailed.
But this is just a miniscule.
It would look much better if most of the present lot of politicians were inside either jails or lunatic asylums rather than outside. Oh, to be in Bangladesh.
This animal, the politician, always draws anger within me and makes me boil.
There are good politicians also.
Jimmy Carter, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Gulzarilal Nanda, Prafulla Chandra Ghosh immediately come to mind. I wish I could mention a few more Indian politicians.
Rajiv Gandhi, the poor man, was one of the better politicians. Rather, he was not a politician and that is why he got caught in the web called "Bofors" created by the opposition.
The Mahabharata had two politicians in the two categories.
Sakuni, the uncle of Duryodhan exemplifies what is bad and Lord Krishna himself shows what a good politician should be.
If any of my school fellows have become politicians, I know our upbringing would not allow you to be a Sakuni.
You must be like Lord Krishna.

Radheshyam
