9.30 AM was the starting time.
We reached slightly late, 10.15 AM but yet were fortunate.
The Old Boys Walking race for old boys between 1960 and 1967 was just begin when we entered the field.
After 42 years I was again participating in the school sports.
Some seven of us entered the race. D K Roy won the race, hands down.
There were other races for the old boys according the year of passing.
It was good to see the oldies on the field.
The competition between the different houses made us remember our old days when we represented our own house. Maroon House came first this year.
The Hi-lights of the sports was the cultural show performed by the students dressed in constumes representing the whole of India.
Young boys were dressed as boys and girls to perform as English, Gujarati, Nepali and other dances.
They performed excellently and were heartly applauded.
The last item was the maze drill.
This again brought back memories of Bro Row who was the architect of this drill in Goethals.
We old boys were then called by the Principal to come down and walk round the field to the tune of our School Anthem, "Cheers for Goethals, cheers for Goethals...."
All I can say is that it was a unforgettable feeling which I shall cherish the rest of my days.
THANK YOU GOETHALS FOR ALL YOU GAVE ME!!
