Basant Lama's Bow

Dear Friends,

I have just received this message from Basant which I am forwarding to all.

Radheshyam

Dear RS,
I know we're not going to meet again like this, and since we never got a chance to really say goodbye, could you please circulate this among the boys.
This is from us guys from Sikkim and North Bengal.
Warmest regards. Basant.

-----------------------------
Thanks boys
The Centenary is over.
We hope you had a good time.

We met again.
We relived old memories.
We experienced some new ones.

We Home Alumni guys from Sikkim and North Bengal
will always remember you,
especially when the Centenary bills start coming in.

Here’s thanks to all the GMS boys who made the Centenary happen.

To Rajah Bannerji (1963), thanks for leading the charge,
Without him as the Captain at the Helm of Affairs,
We could never have weathered all the storms we had to face.
Thanks for bringing the ship home.
To K.K.Chirimar (1953) thanks for braving the stormy seas with us,
You Sir did an Admirable job guiding us.

To good old Sushil Dikshit (1964) thanks for all your erections,
Thanks for putting up all the shamianas, tents, stages etc.
We know you had a really hard time.
We understand that at your age it’s difficult,
but still you got it all up.
Thank you.
Keep it up, as long as you can.

And thanks for fixing up the Toy Train.
Pity we couldn’t take the Governor for a ride,
At least when the General (who is a North Pointer)
rode the Centenary Train, we can now honestly say,
GMS took NP for a ride.

To all the boys from Sikkim and North Bengal, without whose unstinting support the Centenary could never have been possible.

To all the boys who, for months, slogged their assess off,
Names too numerous to mention, and some quite unmentionable.
Thanks.

To our Olympian, good old Joe Galibardy, thanks for coming.
Just shows GMS guys can still come at 90.
At his age he may not be able to hold his hockey stick too firmly,
but he certainly hasn’t lost his balls.

To good old Prakash Bhartia, thanks for coming.
The Canadian Government has issued Postage Stamps in his honor.
We’re really proud of you.
Keep us posted, preferably with your Postage Stamps on it.

Stories are that he actually took his books to the toilets to study.
All we took was TP.
And our visit to the school bogs always produced shitty results.

To all the good old boys who paid through their noses
and generously contributed for the Centenary.
Thanks for coughing up.

To the Principal, Boss of GMS,
Thanks for all the trouble
that you took to make the Centenary happen.

To all the Staff of Goethals, thanks for all of the work you did behind the scenes (without any of the funny stuff)

We thank all our benefactors
for their generous contributions.
We’ll call upon you again when the next Centenary comes around.

Organizing the Centenary was quite an experience.
We had to climb many mountains,
But that’s what mountains are there for – to climb.
We also bumped into many old boys who are absolute gems.
That is reward enough.

We just couldn’t afford to be flaccid, all of us boys had to do it the hard way. All the more fun it was. Thanks boys.

And any guy who wants to come after our ass for a few things that might have gotten messed up in the course of making the arrangements for the Centenary Celebrations, you’re welcome.
We worked our assess off to make the Centenary happen,
So there’s nothing left of it anyway.

It was a good two days.
We conducted our Centenary with Pride, Honor and Dignity.

Once again, we take the opportunity to thank our Teachers.
We are what we are today because of what they taught us yesterday.

They taught us to stand tall; they taught us to be men,
They taught us what was right and what was wrong.
I am what I am today because I only remember what was wrong.
They were the fun parts in life anyway. Once again, thank you.

Whatever values and scruples we have in life today,
is because of the great Principals we had yesterday.

And we are particularly grateful to the Brothers
for absolutely forbidding us from keeping our hands in our pockets, because of which, we are not blind today.

We have vision.
And we haven’t landed up with any hair or warts
on the palms of our hands.

To all you guys from all over the globe who made it for the Centenary. Thanks for coming.

To all those who couldn’t, we’ll be mailing you some Viagra.

To all Goethalites the world over:-
We may never ever meet again.
But our partying was certainly well made.
Farewell, Good Luck and God Bless.

Here's wishing all Goethalites the world over
a very Happy New Year 2008.
See you guys at the next Centenary.
We'll come even if we have to get up from our graves.

Omnia Bene Facere.
