Well, it is nothing to be shocked about.

We Hindus, worship the Shiva Lingam.

Why?

When marriages get delayed, young girls worship Ma Parvati, the consort of Shiva for a good husband in marriage.

I suppose, it is only natural that her husband is worshipped thereafter so that they are also given good children.

This is my view.

I would request a more plausible view from any of our learned people who may know the answer.
