The quality of Forgiveness

All religions preach love and forgiveness.
This piece has been sent by one of my companies vendors with his mail.
In this age of violence, it is worth reading and introspection
Portia had said the same thing in Merchant of Venice, only more elaborately.

Kshama Virasya Bhushnam -
Forgiveness Adorns the Brave !

In one of the Holy Speech of Bhagvin Mahavir (Lord Mahavir), he said "Forgiveness is the Ornament of Brave Person". The Bravey does not lie in proving the power but in Forgiving. At times we also experience that to Forgive one is the most difficult task in life.

As it is said in one of Jain Literature

in english it is
Khämemi Savve Jivä, Savve Jivä Khamantu Mi
Mitti Me Savva bhuesu, Veram majjham na Kenai.

which means,
I forgive all the living beings of the universe,
and may all the living-beings forgive me for my faults.
I have friendship for all living beings,
I do not have any animosity towards anybody!

This aphorism (Sutra) is one of the humble and great way to ask for forgiveness with the unity of the speech, mind and body.

The process of shredding our karmäs (wrong acts / works) really begins by asking for forgiveness with true feelings, and to take the vows not to repeat mistakes. The quality of the forgiveness requires humility (vinay - absence of ego) and suppression of anger.

At the end of Paryushan Parva (the most profound and holy period for Jains in a year, remembering the above "sutra" We pray to forgive us for all our intentional, non intentional acts or words or conversation which might have hurt you or troubles you.

We will honestly try to forgive you and remove any grudge, if created for you. Aspiring for a better communication, and healthy relation in the future.

This is the real spirit of saying // Micchami Dukkadam //
