Messages from Old Boys 11

Msg from Richard Johnson
Dear Richard,
I just saw the video.
It immediately brought back a rush of memories, and for an amateur it is very good.
I shall post it on our blog in the evening after I get back from office.
Thanks for the video and memories.
Radheshyam

Dear Radheshyam,
I have just put my first video on 'youtube' - I have very little expertise in the area, as you will see... Please have a look and put the information in your blog - if you wish:

Richard Johnson attended the Goethals Memorial School (Kurseong, India) Centenary Reunion in November (1-7) 2007. These are some heavily edited memories...

Richard

Dear Safiul,
I was beginning to wonder where you had suddenly disappeared.
Since I had made a similar guidance sheet for Richard Johnson, I am attaching the sheet which I sent to him.
It is better prepared and should help you more.
You haven't sent the filled form.
In Hindi we have a saying "Diya Tale Andhera". It means there is darkness below a lamp.
All those who I know closely are the last to send the forms.
NK too has not sent the form.
Ralph has sent it.
Jeff is not able to access the form as it has been blocked by his company's firewall.
I would suggest to all who have company's E-mail ID to open a free Mail ID with Google or Yahoo or Hotmail.
These have unlimited Mailbox capacity and mails do not bounce like companies accounts.
I am looking forward for your writing on our blog. I know you write very well.
Tomorrow I am expecting J K Ghosh, S P Chatterjee and maybe A K Roy to come home. I'll let you know what happens.

Radheshyam:
Hope all's well.
Been a bit busy. Anyway, finally began writing some stuff with an aim
to uploading it as per the instructions you sent. What I feared has
happened. Since I put your instructions in a special place, I cannot
[and probably never ever will be able to] find them. So, can you
please send them to me again?

Talked to NK in Vancouver. He's doing well.

Dear Chief,
Thanks a lot....I was looking for Ralph Reeves too and if his id is somewhere here in this huge list of addressees then RALPH...PLS REPLY...THIS IS YOUR CAPTAIN OF THE BLUE HOUSE..CIRCA 1967.
For someone who did not like cricket - remember how the hill boys would terms cricket as the 'plains' games though we regret it today a'la' the IPL and Dhoni's millions - Ralph was the one who steered our fumbling team to Runner's Up in the House Leagues. It was the case of the vice-captain motivating the captain ( not that we'd heard of the term motivation). Any way Ralph if you are 'listening' / reading then pls do write because I had hoped to meet you during the centenary. And if I remember correctly, you always had a problem of chapped lips and would keep on licking your lips (hope the tongue exercises stood you in good stead later in life !!! and incidentally it is a medical fact that the tongue is the strongest muscle in the body ) You used to have a perennial crescent patch of discolored skin above your chin.
And as for you Chief ... thanks a million for hosting these pages. Since I am knocking 60 and am a Net-ignoramus I am giving my details below in the "dummy" format.

Msg from Satya Aditya

Thanks for your offer, Satya,
I'll put it on the blog this Sunday.
I am sure some of our boys will avail your offer.
I only wish I had also received these offers when I passed from college.
Radheshyam

Belated Happy Birthday Mr. Sharma.
Hope you are doing well.
If I can be of any service for the boys passing out from GMS, regarding higher studies in London, it would be my pleasure.
Till then best of health and much regards.

Msg from Ravi Sinha

Hello Sir,
I am an ex-goethalite who passed ICSE in 1989.
Please find attached my Personal details Form.
Thanks,
Ravi

Msg from Anik Basu

Thanks Anik,
That was very thoughtful and kind of you.
Here's a toast for all Goethalites.
Cheers
Radheshyam

Hey guys, he's 60...wonder what his zest for life was when he was 15....at GMS.... let's raise a toast to Mr. Sharma
Happy birthday sir
Anik

Yes, Anik,
I meant deadline.
Thanks for the correction.
It just shows there is so much to learn and so little time.
Do come over to our place, anytime you are in Kolkata.
Your name does suggest you are from Kolkata.
When you went to school you must have been based here.
Now your work must have taken you to Delhi.
In fact all Goethalites are welcome, anytime.
We live just 6 Km from the airport.

Radheshyam

Sir, as I said, am stupid with IT stuff...
As a journalist, let me say something: (DATELINE means the city/town u r filing y story from) u probably meant DEADLINE.... the last second when a reporter is expected to file his copy... really really want to meet u...u seem so full of life
good nite sir

Thanks, Anik.
I think you are from the '79 batch.
I am from the '65 batch.
If you had been to the school centenary, you would have met me.
I notice you have not yet sent in the filled form.
It would be good if you could send it for updating the data.
As a journalist, you should have no difficulty in filing in your reports before the dateline.
Radheshyam

Who are u? U r amazing, envy u yr zeal... thank god we have guys like u, am a journo: bye:
Anik

No, there is no site where all the forms are listed.

Msg from Pat Peirce

Yes - yes, I remember - now that you jog my memory!
I thought at the time - ' Parents could not have done that ! '
Don't mind me!
The mind is warped and twisted.
After all - Boarding School, (Khattoo), followed by 42 years of sea-life beginning
on British Merchant Navy Ships.
Better known as ' the school of hard knocks. '
You must have read about ' Press Gangs? '
I thought those days were over. Silly me!
Ciao!
PP

Sorry for the branding, Pat.
If you have read one of my earlier posts, "Boarding School or Day School" you will see how I was branded R D Sharma by my tailor.
These brandings occur sometimes.
I'll correct myself in future.
Regards
Radheshyam

Great Video Robert. I'm a sister of Michael & Leslie L'Estrange batch '75 &'76. Both would have loved to have seen the video.
Sunset views brought back a lot of memories. Jen
