The consistent degradation of the higher education in India and particularly politicizing of centres of educational excellence by the hands of BJP led NDA government in the centre has been manifested once again with the resignation of renowned nuclear scientist Anil Kakodkar from the chairmanship of the Board of Governors of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay.
It has been reported that Kakodkar, who was a member of the selection committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the IIT Council (SCIC), has resigned over disagreement with Union HRD minister Smriti Irani’s choice of candidate for IIT director.
The development is in continuance of the Modi led govt’s plan to push right wing ideology in the country's education system through its chosen people with RSS background. This incident comes months after it was reported that the newly appointed Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology(VNIT) head Vishram Jamdar had filed his job application with the HRD ministry claiming that he is a 'RSS person' and was successful to get the post.
The BJP agenda of rewriting Indian history and to slowly inject it into school syllabus is showing effects with school administration openly carrying out membership drives for the party. Sankritisation and monopolizing education with one ideology will be a death knell to the diversity and strength of this great nation.
Aam Aadmi Party will stand against any such move and will protest inside and outside the Parliament to combat the motives of the Modi led union government to dilute the Indian education system with its nefarious intentions.
It is really sad that highly educated and renowned scientists are made to jump the hoop to a 10th pass HRD minister whose only qualification is that she was a successful soap serial actress who had our Prime Minister Narendra Modi as her fan.
