AAP making 'drama' of people's mandate: BJP

New Delhi, Dec 18 (IANS) BJP leader Harsh Vardhan Wednesday described the Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) decision to seek public opinion on government formation in Delhi as a "drama".

"AAP is engaging in a drama and misleading people. They are unnecessarily delaying government formation in Delhi. They could have made their stand clear," Harsh Vardhan said at a press conference.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader, who was its chief ministerial aspirant, said the AAP was playing with people's mandate by again going to the public vis-a-vis government formation.

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said it would announce its final decision on taking power Dec 23 after finding out the views of the people until the weekend.

This follows a split electoral verdict that left the resulted in the BJP finishing with 31 seats in the 70-member assembly but lacking the necessary members to form a government.

The AAP won 28 seats while the Congress was routed with just eight seats in its kitty.

Harsh Vardhan said the AAP had earlier claimed that it would not take or offer help to any political party but it was now changing its stance.

Harsh Vardhan also posed 14 questions to Kejriwal. One of them was: Tell the people how much time will you take to form a government?

BJP and Congress politicians are a worried lot.

They are just too puzzled to understand this upstart party

What has been going on for 65 years is not democracy, it is loot.

We vote once for our MPs and MLAs and then for 5 years they are in complete control of our lives.

Probably in the earlier days, they did not have the technology and so could not put this in practice.

However, with the present day technology, it is only fair that we involve the people in major decisions and this is by far a major decision since we had decided not to seek support of either Congress or BJP and now we will seem to take their support.

If our Parliament had taken this route instead of taking all the powers and rejected the Lokpal bill, AAP would not have been necessary.

Whatever AAP is doing is path-breaking and has never been done before in India's history.

People like Jayanti Natrajan, Harsh Vardhan and other MPs, MLAs and TV anchors just do not understand this phenomena which AAP has started.

They have always been able to bulldoze through whatever they wanted based on the blank cheque they had received, encashable for 5 years.

Just see how fast they get their salaries and perks increased or how they are scuttling the move to get political parties under RTI or allowing criminals to remain in politics.

If they asked your to vote, would you allow it?

AAP should be encouraged instead of criticising it.

They are asking for just 10 days time to take a decision - heaven will not fall in those 10 days.

I appreciate that AAP is taking my view before forming a government whether YES or NO is immaterial.

Harsh Vardhan may think it is drama but I think this is true democracy.
