Man arrested for raping mother-in-law

New Delhi, Oct 10 (IANS) A 22-year-old man was arrested from Karnal in Haryana Thursday a month after allegedly kidnapping and raping his 40-year-old mother-in-law, police said.

Rajesh alias Raju was nabbed on a tip-off.

"He raped his mother-in-law in a room in Karnal a month ago," said a police officer. "The accused reportedly offered the woman a cold drink, laced with sedatives, and took her to Karnal when she became unconscious," he added.

The woman, a security guard at the Select City mall in south Delhi's Saket, upon gaining consciousness found her modesty outraged.

"Rajesh also beat her up when she tried to flee from the place where she was held hostage. The woman somehow escaped from his clutches and approached police after reaching Delhi," the officer said.

Following her complaint, police conducted raids at several places but the accused managed to give the cops the slip every time till his arrest Thursday.

I can't help but wonder what may have been the reason for such a drastic action?

Was it lust of was it just anger against the daughter which found an outlet through the mother-in-law.

Whatever may have been the cause but it was wrong in spite of all the m-in-law jokes we hear.

But India seems to have become the top-most rape country in the world under the UPA and nothing should surprise us any more.
