AAP's Kumar Vishwas slams Mallika Sarabhai, questions her contribution
Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas has hit back at his new colleague Mallika Sarabhai for questioning his views on Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as well as on minorities and women.
Sarabhai, a social activist and a dancer, had on Monday sought clarification from Vishwas over his remarks on the Gujarat chief minister in a YouTube video where he is heard calling Modi "a Shiva who is cleaning the world of poison".
"He compared Modi to Shivaji, I want to know what that was about. Was it a paid performance?” ANI quoted Sarabhai as saying.
She had also accused Vishwas of being anti-minority, anti-women and misogynist.
"I believe that the Aam Aadmi Party is a party where there is transparency and each individual has the right to question another individual. I would want to know if the view aired on YouTube are his own and if Kumar admits that those are his own views, I think that he needs gender sensitivity."
Vishwas said that he is not answerable to everyone who joins the party.
"Where was Mallika when I was fighting with the police after the rape of Gudiya, a minor girl, in Delhi in April? The police were beating me. Where was she when I was raising a movement against the coal scam? She should look at herself before questioning me on any issue," Vishwas was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
"She is among those one crore people who are joining the AAP. I don't need to react over the views of one crore individuals about me," said Vishwas.
Mallika, who had joined the AAP on January 8, has questioned Modi over the 2002 Gujarat riots and even contested the 2009 parliamentary polls from Gandhinagar against BJP patriarch LK Advani but lost her deposit money.
I agree with Kumar Viswas.
Just because she is Vikram Sarabhai's daughter does not give her the right to question a party to leader who has been associated with AAP, right from inception.
What qualification does she have except become a 3rd grade dancer who has become 1st grade just because of her association with her father's name.
Why didn't she take up these issues before joining the party.
I would suggest she be striped of her membership.
She will cause even more problems later on.
