Hi
Never see any of you guys on the Goethals Memorial School page on Facebook.
JC Tresham, CH Tresham, Desmond Oliver and Richard Johnson are regular contributors but more would be better.
Keep the memories going……..we’re all in a time warp. Need some pictures of and storys about the old school.
Most of the current contributors have recently left GMS and there is a shortage of contributors from the 50’s/60’s/70’s.

Msg from J K Ghosh
Dear RS,
Haven't contacted you for some time. Presently I'm in Chandigarh at my brother's flat. I intend to have my wife's operation at PGI, Chandigarh, which is supposed to be one of the best hospitals in the country. The hospital is really great. Very well-equipped with excellent doctors. It's a shame that our Bengal doesn't have any hospital of this standard. It's so neat and clean and the staff very cooperative. Sweepers clean the floors every half an hour. As because it's a government hospital with good affordable medical treatment, rush is always there. But the hospital is spread out in a sprawling area of several acres, the various departments are spread out, hence the rush is automatically controlled. The doctor has noted down the date of admission as on 2nd October. Let's see what happens. I'm quite OK now, fully fit. Continuing with the pranayam and ayurvedic medicine.
Hope all of you are in the best of health. Take care.
JK
Dear JK,
I was wondering how your wife's treatment was going since I did not hear from you for a long time?
Let us hope all her problems are solved after the 2nd October.
Did you do your tests to check yourself?
My brother-in-law, elder sister's husband, expired last week in Ranchi.
Manju went there on Monday.
I will go there tomorrow and come back on Monday morning.
Kids are all fine.
Both my sons are abroad. I am expecting the younger one to come by the end of October.
Do take care of yourselves.
Cheers,
RS

Radheshyam:
Re the CWG, see the cover story in this week's ECONOMIST. This
serious magazine does not think the fiasco hampers one iota the
continuing miracle of India's economic progress. Indeed, despite
everything, it feels India will overtake China very shortly.
Saf/Safi/Safiul
Safi,
Being an Indian, I wish what you say comes true
However, all the benefits of India's economic growth goes to just 10 to 15% people, the rest remain as they were or rather they go backwards.
Corruption and population growth are India's greatest problems and our politicians are not willing to attack these problems as they re involved in the corruption and Lalu Yadav is involved in both.
You may call me a pessimist but after 60 years we still take the crutches of reservation to try to bring equality.
Reservation does not throw up the most efficient to run the government.
It gives a premium to your birth.
Yes, injustice was done by our forefathers in trampling the rights of the under-privileged classes but that can be cured only by giving them free education up to the high -school level and give them scholarships in the undergraduate level.
Rather, now after 60 years of Independence, that should be given to all poor people.
But our government will allow food grain to rot in godowns but will not give those grains to people who die of hunger.
As far as the CWG is concerned, it is not over yet.
This mornings papers have given details of Rs 112 crores were spent for its official website which has blacked out.
As we progress, more skeletons will fall out of the CWG cup-boards.
The people of Delhi have given a thumbs down to the CWG if the attendance at the stadiums are any guide.
Oh! How I wish there was a Lee Kuan Yew to run India.
Have no elections for fifteen or twenty years and put the whole lot of present political leaders behind bars.
Well not all.
I suppose we could be lenient to people like Manmohan Singh,A K Anthony and a few others who you could count on the fingers of one hand.
There was an article in today's Business Standard giving the reasons of difference between India and China which I shall try to post.
Bye for now,
Radheshyam
