Caller asks tycoons to pay Aftab Ansari legal bill

Kolkata: The Special Task Force (STF) has started an investigation into the complaint by three industrialists that they received threat calls from a terrorist outfit

According to the complainants, the caller, who called from some foreign number, threatened to abduct them if they did not pay a ransom of Rs100 crore.

The industrialists said the caller demanded the money to meet the legal expenses of Aftab Ansari, the prime convict of the American Centre attack in 2001. Ansari has been sentenced to death in the case.

A senior STF official said one of the three complainants is a footwear baron, another owns a big hotel while the third has been involved in multiple business areas. “All of them were threatened of abduction, if they do not pay the ransom amount within the next 15 days,” he said. They refused to divulge the names of the industrialists or the company owned by them.

Kolkata Police said Amir Reza Khan, the leader of Indian Mujahiddin, is suspected to be involved in the matter. “However, nothing can be said definitely before further investigation,” a senior official said.

Why can't the police shut their mouths instead of just blabbing away to the media without even achieving anything.
Now three industrialists have received threatening calls.
They have not been able to find out who made the calls and from where they came but they have already gone to the media as if they have solved a Sherlock Holmes mystery.
Contrast with how the Americans or the Israelis work.
They work quietly and tirelessly until they have collected all the evidence and then swoop on their prey with an iron tight case.
The Mossad even locate, follow and kill their prey in foregn countries while our police play sitting ducks for anyone who would like to massacre them.
Now, by broadcasting the above news, they have alerted the extorters and also endangered the lives of the three industrialist although the police think they act cleverly when they do not divulge the names of the industrialist.
