Aam Aadmi Party’s Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, who has been asked to appear again before the parliamentary panel tomorrow, is expected to submit a fresh response defending his act of filming details of the Parliament complex and uploading the same on a social media website.
Members of the panel, before whom Mann had appeared on last Thursday, claimed that since there were “glaring contradictions in his written response and oral deposition, they have asked him to appear again on Monday”.
When asked if the tomorrow’s meeting of the parliamentary panel would be last, a senior member of the committee said: “This will depend on how and what the MP deposes.”
Even as Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has given the panel a deadline of August 3 to complete the process of examination and submit a report, sources said, given the progress on the job, the panel “may seek an extension”.
On Thursday, the panel members had expressed their displeasure over Mann’s attempt to link his act with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ISI. Panel chief and BJP MP Kirit Somaiya had said though Mann offered an unconditional apology, he had also questioned the utility of forming the panel.
