Woman in distress gets no help from police
New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS) A 45-year-old woman was forced to lead a drunken man to a police station here after Delhi Police failed to respond to her distress call.
The accused, identified as Anand, 28, tried to molest the woman when she was taking an evening walk Sunday at Lodi Gardens, police said Monday.
The accused was beaten up by some people who collected there after hearing the woman scream.
The woman told police that she got no help from the Delhi government's Women Helpline Number 181 while the Police Control Room failed to rise to the occasion.
She said repeated calls to 181 elicited no response.
A police officer blamed the woman for apparently not providing her exact location.
Why is it that the police always find some excuse to hide their incompetence?
