BOKARO: Losing his money in gambling a man committed suicide by hanging himself from a fan in his house at Swang area under Gomia police station of the the district on Sunday late night.

The deceased, identified as Man Singh (24) was a private worker. He was prompted by his friends for gambling and participated in the game to try his luck. But unfortunately he lost his savings of about Rs 4000 in the game. He had saved the money to meet the medical expenses of his wife's delivery. "Losing the money in gambling he was not able to forgive himself and committed suicide," said sources.

According to police sources, he was sad after losing the money. He told his wife about the money he lost in the incident. Later, when his wife went to the temple to worship and his children were playing with crackers outside, he hanged himself to death.

His father who had gone to the market after returning home found Singh's body hanging and raised an alarm. The family members of the deceased said that Singh was not a habitual gambler.

Police have sent his body for autopsy and registered a case of unnatural death in this connection, said officer in-charge of Gomia police station Suresh Kumar.

Suicide is a sin. All religions preach that.
However, I cannot help wondering what if Yudhistra had followed the example of Man Singh above and committed suicide when he lost Dhraupadi, all his brothers and the Kingdom? Would that have been prevented the Mahabharata war?
Of course, we would then have had to miss the discourses of Lord Krisna in the Bhagavat Gita.
I suppose the Bhagavat Gita, the preaching of Lord Krishna, was worth going to war?
