Fast against Lok Pal Bill in present form

Anna Hazare to fast for Lokpal bill
IANS, Feb 26, 2011, 07.51pm IST

NEW DELHI: Eminent social activist Anna Hazare Saturday threatened to go go on indefinite fast from April 5 if the prime minister does not initiate action for formulation of a strong Lokpal bill, or anti-graft legislation, in consultation with the civil society by March end.

"I have written to the Prime Minister, if he doesn't takes a decision on drafting a strong Lokpal bill by March-end, I will go on an indefinite fast from April 5," Hazare told reporters.

Hazare, in his letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has demanded that the government immediately set up a committee with at least half of its member being from the civil society.

"How could the officials and politicians draft an anti-corruption law against themselves? At least half of the members of the committee should be from the civil society," Hazare told reporters here.

The Lokpal Bill, 2010, which awaits a select parliamentary committee's nod, provides for filing complaints of corruption against the prime minister, ministers and MPs with the ombudsman.

However, the activists said that the Lokpal bill in its present form is toothless and have drafted a separate Jan Lokpal bill taking view and suggestions from civil society and common people in account.

The activist's bill demands that the Lokpal and Lokayukta, who will be the corruption watchdogs, be independent bodies unlike the Central Bureau of Investigation, which is under the government and can not function independently. It also emphasises on time-bound investigation.

The 72-year-old activist called upon the nation to join him in the fast.

"I appeal to all the people, Lokpal Bill is the second struggle for independence. Even if I am martyred it doesn't matter. When the fast starts, everyone who can shall join me in the fast from where ever they are," he said.

"It is not about Anna Hazare, it is about the country," he said.

I fully support Anna in his endeavour.
Asking politicians to enquire into corruption charges is useless for they will protect their kind and we will never get to the bottom of things.
There should be no witch hunting and no false accusations so anyone making accusations without proof should be severely punished.
All government servant and politicians should declare the assets of their relatives. Relatives should include spouse, parents, brothers and sisters of both self and spouse and siblings.
There should be a fast track method of confiscating the ill-gotten gains made by corrupt practises.
And pray, why should the office of the prime minister and chief Justice of the Supreme Court and President of India, be kept out our the purview of the Lok Pal Bill.
We are seeing how the last Chief Justice and his family have accumulated wealth by giving favourable judgement after taking money.
Some Prime Ministers, I won't name names as there are too many who have made gains through corrupt practiss.

Mamata presents a stale Railway Budget

Yesterday’s train today
TAMAGHNA BANERJEE
An express train left Sealdah 15 hours late on a day the railway minister kept showering bounties on Bengal.

The 2987 Sealdah Ajmer Express that was scheduled to leave Sealdah at 11.20pm on Thursday left around 2pm on Friday.

Most of the passengers spent the night at the station, some checked into nearby hotels while a few went back home and returned early in the morning only to wait almost through the day for the train to leave.

The railway authorities blamed the delayed departure on the late arrival of the corresponding Down train.

“The train from Ajmer arrived at 9.30am on Friday instead of 3.55pm on Thursday,” said an Eastern Railway official.

The train went to the car shed after the passengers got off and returned to the station around 11am to start its journey for Ajmer.

Passengers who boarded the train, however, complained that the coaches were dirty, prompting the authorities to start a clean-up that continued for close to three hours. The rules state that a train should be cleaned and checked for faults at the car shed, before it arrives at the station.

Durga and Jyotirmoy Sarkar, along with their nine-year-old daughter Joyita, arrived at the city from Gangarampur in South Dinajpur to take the Ajmer Express.

“We boarded the Kanchenjunga Express at Malda and reached Sealdah late in the evening but learnt that the Ajmer Express would leave only at 9am on Friday,” recalled Jyotirmoy, an executive at Hindustan Zinc Ltd at Bilara in Rajasthan.

The Sarkars checked into a hotel near the station and returned at 8 in the morning only to learn that the Down train had not yet arrived.

“I was on leave and had to join office by Saturday. Thanks to the delay, I won’t be able to rejoin before Monday,” Sarkar fumed, sitting in an AC three-tier coach.

K.P. Jalan, another harassed passenger, said the railway minister should focus on punctuality along with announcing one mega measure after another.

On my return from Varanasi in the 1st week of this month, I had reported the harrowing time we had on both outward and inward journeys.
I can only sympathize with the passenger of the above train and all the train running on the Indian Railway system for I know most of the trains running in north India are all running behind time.
I would suggest some public spirited organisation collect a daily data of all trains running in India and make a report of the late running trains and then file a PIL to force the railway minister to do her work or buzz off.
Just yesterday, I was talking to two relatives of mine who happened to travel by Parasnath Express around the 3rd January from Ahmedabad. This train reached its destination 36 hours late. So you can see that the passengers of the above train were lucky by losing just 15 hours.
Mamata Banerjee just presented her 4th budget yesterday.
She has announced a pack of new trains but cannot even make the existing trains run on time.
DO WE NEED ANOTHER EMERGENCY TO MAKE THE TRAINS RUN ON TIME?

Veg vs Non-veg.

What one wears and eats are dependent upon his ancestry and his bringing up. It depends quite a lot on the geography of the place where his ancestors stayed. These habits are then modified by his education and his present surrounding and friends circle.
Bengalis residing in Bengal ,where there are perpetual rivers and streams, find abundant supply of fish in the rivers and sea coast and so have become fish eaters. India has a long sea coast and so the people living on these coasts are mainly sea fish eaters.
Rajasthan and Gujarat are two states where water is or was scarce for people to live in and so quite a few moved to far of places like Bengal initially and later to the south. Since there was not much water, they could not keep animals except for camels which were used to transportation. Hence circumstances have made them vegetarians.
The medical profession tells us that vegetarian food is better than non-veg food and so the western people are gradually shifting their eating habits towards veggies. On the other hand, modern Marwaris and Gujjus have started thinking that eggs and meat are the “in” thing and are moving in hordes towards non-veg diet.
I won’t go so far and say that the non-veggies are committing a sin by killing and eating animals. I suppose they are doing the veggies a favour by bringing about a balance in the population of Mother earth as otherwise these animals would eat up all the veg food and leave nothing for the veggies. After all I don’t suppose more than 10 % of the population of the world are veggies so if the other 90 % people too started taking veg food, it would denude the earth. I can only thank the non-veggies for killing and eating these wretched animals.
Having said that, I have a grievance.
In school, if you remember right, there were two refectories, English and Indian.
In the English one they used to serve pork and beef and in the Indian one, they used to serve Chicken and mutton. Of course eggs were served in both.
We veggies had one table where sixteen of us could sit. So on an average among 300 boarders there were just about 16 veggies.
The boys of both refectories, except us, got eggs and some meat on daily basis. We veggies were treated with four pieces of sweets, twice a week. That was the only specials we got.
However look at the charges.
When I joined in 1955, we were charged Rs 100.00 per month and the non-veggies were charged Rs 80/- per month. Later on, our charges were increased to Rs 140/- per month while their charges were increased to Rs 120/-. These were the charges we paid until the time I passed out in 1965.
Unimaginable!

World's Biggest Family

Ziona Chana lives with 39 wives, 94 children and 33 grandchildren

He lives with all of them in a 100-room mansion His wives take it in turns to share his bed It takes 30 whole chickens just to make dinner

He is head of the world's biggest family - and says he is 'blessed' to have his 39 wives.

Ziona Chana also has 94 children, 14-daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren.

They live in a 100-room, four storey house set amidst the hills of Baktwang village in the Indian state of Mizoram, where the wives sleep in giant communal dormitories.

The full monty: The Ziona family in its entirety with all 181 members

You treat this place like a hotel: With 100 rooms the Ziona mansion is the biggest concrete structure in the hilly village of Baktawng

Mr. Chana told the Sun: 'Today I feel like God's special child. He's given me so many people to look after.

'I consider myself a lucky man to be the husband of 39 women and head of the world's largest family.'

The family is organized with almost military discipline, with the oldest wife Zathiangi organizing her fellow partners to perform household chores such as cleaning, washing and preparing meals.

One evening meal can see them pluck 30 chickens, peel 132lb of potatoes and boil up to 220lb of rice.

Coincidentally, Mr. Chana is also head of a sect that allows members to take as many wives as he wants.

Feeling peckish? The senior ladies of the Chana family show what it takes just to make a meal

The wives and I: Mr. Ziona Chana poses with his 39 wives at their home in Baktawang, Mizoram, India

He even married ten women in one year, when he was at his most prolific, and enjoys his own double bed while his wives have to make do with communal dormitories.

He keeps the youngest women near to his bedroom with the older members of the family sleeping further away - and there is a rotation system for who visits Mr. Chana's bedroom.

Rinkmini, one of Mr. Chana's wives who is 35 years old, said: 'We stay around him as he is the most important person in the house. He is the most handsome person in the village.

She says Mr. Chana noticed her on a morning walk in the village 18 years ago and wrote her a letter asking for her hand in marriage.

Shared bedroom: A look inside the four-storey mansion, Chhuanthar Run - The House of the New Generation

Another of his wives, Huntharnghanki, said the entire family gets along well. The family system is reportedly based on 'mutual love and respect'

And Mr. Chana, whose religious sect has 4, 00 members, says he has not stopped looking for new wives.

'To expand my sect, I am willing to go even to the U.S. to marry,' he said.

One of his sons insisted that Mr. Chana, whose grandfather also had many wives, marries the poor women from the village so he can look after them

Mosquitoes-Causes and Cure.

Malaria: Past and Present
History of Malaria
Malaria parasites have been with us since the dawn of time. They probably originated in Africa (along with mankind), and fossils of mosquitoes up to 30 million years old, show that the malaria vector, the malaria mosquito, was present well before the earliest history. Hippocrates, a physician born in ancient Greece, today regarded as the "Father of Medicine", was the first to describe the manifestations of the disease, and relate them to the time of year and to where the patients lived. Before this, the supernatural was blamed. The association with stagnant waters (breeding grounds for the Anopheles mosquito) led the Romans to begin drainage programs, the first intervention against malaria.

The first recorded treatment dates back to 1600, when the bitter bark of the Cinchona tree in Peru was used by the native Peruvian Indians. By 1649, the bark was available in England, as "Jesuits powder," so that those suffering from "agues" might benefit from the chemical substance quinine, which it contained. Not until 1889 was the protozoal (single celled parasite) cause of malaria discovered by Alphonse Laveran working in Algeria, and only in 1897 was the Anopheles mosquito demonstrated to be the vector for the disease by Ronald Ross.

Discovery of Malaria Agent - Alphonse Laveran

When Alphonse Laveran, in 1879, began his research at the military hospital of Bône in Algeria, he only set himself the task of explaining the role of the particles of black pigment found in the blood of people suffering from malaria. After 1850, when these particles, called melanins, were discovered, methods had been discussed in determining whether they were only to be found in patients suffering from malaria, or were present in other diseases as well. Laveran first set about solving this problem, which was particularly important to the diagnosis of malaria. During his investigations, Laveran not only found the particles he had been looking for: he also found some entirely unknown bodies with certain characteristics which led him to suppose that parasites were involved. His initial investigations were carried out on fresh blood without using chemical reactions or any staining process. He was nonetheless successful, using this primitive method of examination, in distinguishing and describing most of the more important forms adopted by these new bodies, which varied so much in their appearance.

n 1882, he moved the scene of his investigations for a while to the dangerous marshy regions of Italy. There he again found the same bodies in the blood of people suffering from marsh fever, and his hope of having found the malarial parasite became a certainty. Laveran published his first great work on these parasites, Traité des fièvres palustres, in 1884. In this, he drew on 480 examined cases of malaria. This work is the foundation on which subsequent investigations of marsh fever are based. Laveran showed that the parasites, during their development in the red blood corpuscles, destroy them; and the red pigment in the corpuscles is changed into the melanin particles mentioned above. He described all the main forms, even those which have subsequently been found to be different developmental phases of the parasite.

Continuing his work, Laveran concerned himself in the first place with the important problem of the existence of these parasites outside the patient's body. To this end, he examined the water, soil, and air of the marshlands, hoping to find the parasite. His perseverance was unrewarded. We should not, however, fail to recognize the merit of this work, despite its negative outcome, since it has fundamentally aided subsequent research. As far as Laveran was concerned, these apparently fruitless investigations led him to the conclusions which he expressed in the book of 1884, and had also maintained on a number of occasions, such as the Congress of Hygiene at Budapest (1894): that the marsh fever parasite must undergo one phase of its development in mosquitoes, and be inoculated into humans by their bites. When Laveran was recalled from Algeria to Paris, and thus forced to interrupt his work on malaria, he had already clearly formulated the problems that had first to be solved in this field.

Malaria Transmission - Ronald Ross

It was the army surgeon, Ronald Ross, who undertook the experimental testing of the mosquito-theory, proposed by both Laveran and the investigator, Patrick Manson. The solution came from India, while Ross was commisioned in the Indian Medical Service, and in the late 1890s the mosquito hypothesis could be established.

Critically arranging his experiments, he caused mosquitoes that were hatched from larvae in the laboratory, to bite malarious patients, and endeavored to follow the parasite in the body of the mosquitoes. The results of the first two years' labor, although assiduous and scrupulous, gave little promise of success. But in August 1897, all at once he made vast progress towards his aim. While experimenting with another, less common species of mosquito, in the wall of its stomach he found bodies that very probably were an evolutionary stage of the human malarial parasite.

Ross, being prevented by circumstances from pursuing his plan in studying the malarial parasite of man, continued his work with an allied malarial parasite of birds. The result was that not only could he confirm his discovery concerning human malaria, as he found corresponding facts for avian malaria, but he also, in a short time, succeeded in revealing the further development of the avian malarial parasite in the body of the mosquito.

Ross's discoveries into malaria were immediately followed by a series of important works. Giovanni Battista Grassi, Robert Koch - the Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, 1905 and many others, issued many valuable works which not only enlarged the understanding of malaria, but also supplied useful knowledge and understanding in the combat against and prevention of the malaria disease.

Malaria Control Operation

The discovery of the insecticide DDT in 1942, by Paul Müller the Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, 1948, and its first use in Italy in 1944, made the idea of global eradication of malaria seem possible. Subsequently, widespread systematic control measures such as spraying with DDT, coating marshes with paraffin (to kill Anopheles mosquito larvae), draining stagnant water, and the widespread use of nets and cheap, effective drugs such as chloroquine were implemented - with impressive results. Despite initial success, there was a complete failure to eradicate malaria in many countries due to a number of factors. Although technical difficulties such as mosquito and parasite drug resistance have played a part, the main failure to reduce the disease is probably due to social and political factors preventing efficient application of control measures.

Despite the setbacks, up until 1969, when the global eradication policy was finally abandoned, the following European countries had managed to completely eradicate endemic malaria by interrupting transmission: Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Yugoslavia, Spain, Poland, Italy, Netherlands and Portugal.

From the early 1970s, the malaria situation has slowly and progressively deteriorated and reduced control measures between 1972 and 1976, due to financial constraints, led to a massive 2-3 fold increases in cases globally. Spraying never truly eradicated the mosquitoes anywhere, and the reduction in the more persistent P. vivax infections were much less than for P. falciparum - though the latter returned in much greater strength as control measures waned. The growing interchange of populations between countries where malaria is prevalent and malaria free countries is responsible for the continuous increase in the number of imported malaria cases in European countries, and causes serious concern because of possible epidemic focal resurgence in receptive areas such as the Mediterranean. Since 1976, several new pockets of malaria transmission have evolved, and a WHO 1980 report recommended that countries which had become non-malarious should maintain at least one malaria vigilance unit.

I know people living in India must have tried the various branded chemical products which emit either smoke of chemical fumes which are said to dive out mosquitoes. Earlier we had also used branded liquids which were vaporised and sprayed on walls and corners to kill the mosquitoes. Spraying of DDT has been stopped a long time ago because of being more harmful then helpful.

Municipalities also send along a small vehicle which belches smoke and fume which runs on the road and drives away the mosquitoes from the roadside. I don't know how successful these are in killing the pest. However, after the vehicle makes a run and your window is left open, you can rest assured they will enter your house.

By far, the most effective product I have found is given below.

These are racquets, mostly made in China, which are available probably all over.I have bought the third racquet to my home.
The first one was given a few years ago by my nephew who works in the airport.
He got it from a traveler friend who regularly visited Thailand.
It was very effective.
The second one was not effective and I had started doubting the quality of the products.
This one bought at the fair ground at Bangur by my daughter-in-law is very effective.
The racquets are wired with metallic wires in two layers, separated by non-conducting plastic strips. Both layers are charged with a high voltage electronically using a chargeable battery and a circuit. When the racquet is waved and mosquitoes strike the wires, there is a flash and the mosquito dies in a flash.
There are no fumes. My flat has nylon nettings on all windows and both front and back doors so that air can cross in but mosquitoes are kept out.

The veranda and entrance are places where a lot of mosquitoes collect and they enter through these. So every morning and evening, the racquet is waved in both these ares and at least 20 to 30 mosquitoes are flashed off.

This has been so effective that now at Bangur Avenue, which is famous for mosquitoes, we can sleep without a mosquito-net or mosquito repellents.

The government could reduce the mosquito menace if it gave one racquet to all BPL families and also took care to have them repaired as the batteries last about 6 months and the racquet loses its charging capacity after the battery wears down,

The racquets are not difficult to make and do not cost much. They could be made by the Tiny Sector.

The Origin of Valentine's Day

Funny story ....................

In spite of what you have been told , Valentine's Day originated hundreds of years ago, in India, and to top it all, in the state of Gujarat.

It is a well known fact that Gujarati men, specially the Patels, continually mistreat and disrespect their wives (Patelianis). One fine day, it happened to be the 14th day of February, one brave Patelani, having had enough "torture" by her husband, finally chose to rebel by beating him up with a Velan (rolling pin to make chapattis).

Yes....the same Velan which she used daily, to make chapattis for him.... only this time, instead of the dough, it was the husband who was flattened.

This was a momentous occasion for all Gujarati women and a revolt soon spread, like wild fire, with thousands of housewives beating up their husbands with the Velan. There was an outburst of moaning "chapatti-ed" husbands all over Anand and Amdavad.

The Patel men-folk quickly learnt their lesson and started to behave more respectfully with their Patelanis.

Thereafter, on 14th February every year, the womenfolk of Gujarat would beat up their husbands, to commemorate that eventful day - the wives having the satisfaction of beating up their husbands with the Velan and the men having the supreme joy of submitting to the will of the women they loved.

Soon The Gujju men realized that in order to avoid this ordeal they need to present gifts to their wives....they brought flowers and sweets. This is how the tradition - Velan time - began.

As Gujarat fell under the influence of Western culture, the ritual soon spread to Britain and many other Western countries, specifically, the catch words 'Velan time' !!! In course of time, their foreign tongues, this got anglicized to 'Velantime' and then to 'Valentine'. And thereafter, 14th of February, came to be known as Valentine's Day and now you know the true story of Valentine's day.! ! !

Nice anecdote. I wish it was true.

GOD'S Rosebud

A new minister
was walking with an older,
more seasoned minister
in the garden one day.

Feeling a bit insecure
about what God
had for him to do,
he was asking the older preacher
for some advice.

The older preacher
walked up to a rosebush
and handed the young preacher
a rosebud and told him
to open it
without tearing off any petals.

The young preacher
looked in disbelief
at the older preacher
and was trying to figure out
what a rosebud
could possibly have to do
with his wanting to know
the will of God
for his life and ministry.

But because of his great respect
for the older preacher,
he proceeded to try to unfold the rose,
while keeping every petal intact.

It wasn't long
before he realized
how impossible
this was to do.

Noticing the younger preacher's inability
to unfold the rosebud
without tearing it,
the older preacher
began to recite
the following poem...

"It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine."

"The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so easily,
But in my hands they die."

"If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?"

"So I'll trust in God for leading
Each moment of my day.
I will look to God for guidance
In each step of the way."

"The path that lies before me,
Only my Lord knows.
I'll trust God to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose."

ALL EUROPEAN LIFE DIED IN AUSCHWITZ

REMEMBER AS YOU READ -- IT WAS IN A SPANISH PAPER

ALL EUROPEAN LIFE DIED IN AUSCHWITZ
By Sebastian Vilar Rodrigez

I walked down the street in Barcelona , and suddenly discovered a terrible truth - Europe died in Auschwitz .... We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.

The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world. These are the people we burned.

And under the pretence of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.

They have blown up our trains and turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Shut up in the apartments they receive free from the government, they plan the murder and destruction of their naive hosts.

And thus, in our misery, we have exchanged culture for fanatical hatred, creative skill for destructive skill, intelligence for backwardness and superstition.

We have exchanged the pursuit of peace of the Jews of Europe and their talent for a better future for their children, their determined clinging to life because life is holy, for those who pursue death, for people consumed by the desire for death for themselves and others, for our children and theirs.

What a terrible mistake was made by miserable Europe ..

The Jews are NOT promoting brain washing children in military training camps, teaching them how to blow themselves up and cause maximum deaths of Jews and other non Muslims. The Jews don't hijack planes, nor kill athletes at the Olympics, or blow themselves up in German restaurants. There is NOT one single Jew who has destroyed a church. There is NOT a single Jew who protests by killing people.

The Jews don't traffic slaves, nor have leaders calling for Jihad and death to all the Infidels.

Perhaps the world's Muslims should consider investing more in standard education and less in blaming the Jews for all their problems.

Muslims must ask 'what can they do for humankind' before they demand that humankind respects them.

Regardless of your feelings about the crisis between Israel and the Palestinians and Arab neighbors, even if you believe there is more culpability on Israel 's part, the following two sentences really say it all:

'If the Arabs put down their weapons today, there would be no more violence. If the Jews put down their weapons today, there would be no more Israel ." Benjamin Netanyahu

General Eisenhower Warned Us It is a matter of history that when the Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, General Dwight Eisenhower, found the victims of the death camps he ordered all possible photographs to be taken, and for the German people from surrounding villages to be ushered through the camps and even made to bury the dead.

He did this because he said in words to this effect:

'Get it all on record now - get the films - get the witnesses - because somewhere down the road of history some bastard will get up and say that this never happened'

Recently, the UK debated whether to remove The Holocaust from its school curriculum because it 'offends' the Muslim population which claims it never occurred. It is not removed as yet. However, this is a frightening portent of the fear that is gripping the world and how easily each country is giving into it.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This e-mail is being sent as a memorial chain, in memory of the, 6 million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians, and 1,900 Catholic priests who were 'murdered, raped, burned, starved, beaten, experimented on and humiliated' while the German people looked the other way.

Now, more than ever, with Iran , among others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth,' it is imperative to make sure the world never forgets.

Let this be a link in the memorial chain and help distribute this around the world.

How many years will it be before the attack on the World Trade Center 'NEVER HAPPENED' because it offends some Muslim in the United States?

We India too are regretting having taken on secularism in the garb of allowing the Muslims to infiltrate from Bangladesh and Pakistan and changing the demography of the country.
Just yesterday, Mamata Banerjee has asked Justice Sacchar to come to Bengal and suggest ways to increase the condition of the 28% Muslims in Bengal. Note the figure 28%.
The Muslim population in India just after independence was 15%. Now as per Mamata's own figure it is 28%. In contrast, the Hindu population in Bangladesh has reduced from 15 % to less than 1%.
We used to live in a place called Chuadanga in Bangladesh.
There was a flourishing Hindu population of around 30% just after independence. Now the number of Hindu houses there are less than 100.
While Muslims will not allow practise of any other religion in countries where they rule, they demand rights in countries where they are in the minority. After, increasing their population by breeding like goats with multiple marriages, they create problems for the host country.
People like Mamata Banerjee, Mulayam Singh Yadav and other short-sighted politicians do not see the Muslim game and in their thirst for power, they use the vote bank politics to win elections.
Regarding Nobel prizes, we too have a population of 1200 million and Indian residing in India have never received any Nobel Prizes.

Humanism

This incident is not from a film but a true and real one.

It is about a certain Mr Zavere Poonawala who is a well-known industrialist in Pune. He had this driver named Gangadatta with him for the last 30 years on his limousine, which was originally owned by Bhagwan Rajneesh which Mr Poonawala had bought from him.

Gangadatta passed away recently and at that time Mr Poonawala was in Mumbai for some important work.As soon as he heard the news he canceled all his meetings, requested the driver's family to await him for the cremation and came back immediately by a helicopter.

On reaching Poona he asked the limo to be decorated with flowers as he wished Gangadatta should be taken in the same car which he himself had driven since the beginning. When Gangadatta's family agreed to his wishes, he himself drove Gangadatta from his home up to the ghat on his last journey.

When asked Mr Poonawala was very sorrowful and replied that Gangadatta had served him day and night and he could at least do this being eternally grateful for him. He further added that Gangadatta rose up from poverty and educated both his children very well. His daughter is a Chartered accountant and that is so commendable.

His comment in the end is the essence of a successful life in all aspects. All earn money which is nothing unusual in that, but we should always be grateful to all those people who contribute for our success. This is the sanskara we have been brought up with which made me do what I did.

Don't you think that it is s a superb example of humanity?

Yes, it is.
Mr. Poonawala does not know that we are all talking of him and probably he would not want us to.
Just like the Tatas who cared for all the people who were injured during the 26/11 attack on, whether they were employed by the Tatas or not.
How unlike our government ministers who distribute one tenth of what has been sanctioned by the government with the TV cameras all glaring on their action

Parental intrusion ruining couples' marital life: Delhi high court
PTI, Feb 19, 2011, 07.50pm IST

NEW DELHI: The interference of parents in the married life of their daughters has become a major cause for playing havoc with the lives of young couples post marriage, the Delhi high court has said.

Expressing concern over rift between couples due to parents' persistent interference in their daughter's married life, Justice Kailash Gambhir upheld a lower court's decree of divorce to a man on the ground of his in-laws' frequent interference in his marital life.

Justice Gambhir said parents should draw a line to let their daughters lead happy married lives.

"All parents guide, teach and discipline their daughters and are concerned about their welfare after marriage but it is imperative for parents to draw a line as the prime concern should be that their daughter is happily settled in a new atmosphere at the husband's place," he said.

But, it should not mean day-to-day monitoring of the affairs taking place at the matrimonial home of the daughter, he said.

Parents should not become uninvited judges of problems of their daughter, become an obstacle in the daughter's married life, plant thoughts in her mind and gain control over her and promote disharmony in her family life, the judge said.

"They are expected to advise, support and believe in their upbringing maintaining a discreet silence about the affairs of the matrimonial relationship," the court said.

"The present case is an unfortunate example where the parents of the appellant, instead of putting out the fire have fuelled and fanned it," the court said, dismissing an appeal filed by the wife challenging the lower court's order granting the man decree of divorce.

According to the husband, the difference with his wife started a few months after their marriage in 1990 due to frequent interference of his in-laws.

He alleged that he was even hit publicly by his father-in law two years after his marriage.

Seeking decree of divorce, he had approached the court, which allowed his plea on the grounds of cruelty by his wife due to continuous interference by his in-laws.

This is a burning problem for married couples. So much so, that people in the west have stopped, marrying just to avoid mother-in-laws.They just prefer to live together.
We the east too face the problem to a lesser extent but we have it as shown in the above court verdict.
I personally know of cases in our near family circles where families have broken up because of such interference. Our Hindi TV serials are full of these stories. Earlier our Hindi movies too had this subject lines in 50% of our movies during the days when Lalitha Powar was queen of the villans.
Off course nowadays we have another villain, another Pawar, who is responsible for all the price rises in the food products.

2G Scam and Karunanidhi Family

New Delhi: The CBI on Friday raided the in the offices and residences of top management of DMK-run Kalaignar TV in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
The raids came in the wake of allegations that that there was a connection between accused Shahid Usman Balwa-promoted Swan Telecom and the channel.
The agency carried out searches at Kalaignar TV Managing director Sharad Kumar's residence.
The searches began in the wee hours to probe certain financial transactions that could be connected to the spectrum scam.
CBI may quiz Kanimozhi in 2G scam case
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief M Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi is likely to be called in for questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the 2G spectrum scam, sources have told CNN-IBN.
Kalaignar TV's Sharad Kumar is also likely to be called in by the CBI.
DMK under 2G scanner
Documents with CNN-IBN show that money was loaned to DMK's Kalaignar TV by DB Realty group through a maze of transactions.
DB Realty is owned by Shahid Balwa who has a stake in Swan Telecom which is one of the companies named in the 2G scam.
CNN-IBN has accessed the balance sheets of three companies to establish that loans were made to Kalaignar TV. Karunanidhi's wife MK Dayalu owns 60 percent and daughter Kanimozhi owns another 20 percent in the DMK TV channel.
Rs 214.84 crore is reflected in Kalaignar TV's balance sheet as an unsecured loan. It comes from Cineyug Media and Entertainment Pvt Ltd and the exact amount is Rs 214.8654 crore. It is given to Kalaignar TV as an unsecured loan in the company's balance sheet for the year 2009-2010.

Its about time the CBI attacked the Tamil Nadu front.
No one believed that Raja would have been able to digest all the money he collected and that was the reason the the DMK wanted the portfolio to remain with it.
See their audacity. Even when Raja was being eased out when he became too hot for the Congress to handle, the DMK demanded that that department be given to another DMK member so that the scam was not unearthed. Fortunately, Jayalalitha came to the aid of the congress by assuring them that she would support the congress if the DMK withdrew support. That one action of Jaya was enough to give courage to our PM to kick out Raja and instal Sibal. However, Sibal's statements thereafter showed that he was acting at the behest of Raja.
UNLESS THE CBI WAS FORCED BY THE SUPREME COURT THE INVESTIGATION WOULD NEVER HAVE COVERED THIS GROUND.
THANK YOU SUPREME COURT.

Reliance ADAG cries against bear hammering

ADAG seeks IB probe in hammering of 23 infra stocks
Press Trust of India / New Delhi February 18, 2011, 17:31 IST

Anil Ambani-led Reliance Infra has sought an Intelligence Bureau probe into alleged hammering down of 23 infrastructure stocks by a "powerful stock market operator" for personal gains of hundreds of crores of rupees.

Besides itself and another group firm Reliance Power, the Anil Ambani group has also listed out companies like public sector giants NTPC, BHEL and NHPC, as also private sector entities like L&T, JSW Energy, Adani Power, Tata Power and Voltas Ltd in its letter to the IB, sources said.

Reliance Infra has claimed that the illegal bear cartel run by this stock market operator has caused a loss of over Rs 300,000 crore from the infrastructure sector stocks in a short period of less than 90 days ending February 9.
Other infra-sector companies listed out in the letter include Jaiprakash Associates, Neyvelli Lignite, GMR Infra, Lanco Indtatech, Jaiprakash Power Ventures, ABB Ltd, Crompton Greaves, Mundra Port, Torrent Power, Thermax, Cummins India, IRB Infra and GVK Power and Infra.

Seeking a probe and immediate action by the intelligence agency against those behind the 'bear hammering operation, the company blamed these operators of distorting Indian capital market in general and infrastructure sector in particular.

These operators have been accused of indulging in market manipulations and rumour mongering to destroy the confidence of investors for their own illegal and unjust enrichment.

The company is also believed to have identified the name of the market operator leading this cartel, based on the information from its stock market sources, and has said that he has accumulated huge wealth running into hundreds of crores of rupees in a very short span of time.

R-Infra is believed to have told IB that infrastructure sector has been identified by the government as a growth catalyst and a key driver to make it an economic super power.

Asserting that infrastructure companies need regulatory protection from market manipulative forces, the company has said that it was important for these companies to raise equity and debt resources to implement their projects.

Last week, Anil Ambani group MD Gautam Doshi had also blamed 'corporate rivals' and a bear cartel for market plunge.

Doshi had also said that the group was a victim of the illegal bear cartel that caused a loss of over Rs 3,00,000 crore for the infrastructure sector in past few weeks.

"We have written to SEBI, stock exchanges, and intelligence agencies to immediately investigate these concerted efforts to destabilise the capital markets, and create panic amongst investors," Doshi had said.

The group stocks lost considerably today also, with R-Infra and Reliance Power falling by over five%t each.

Another group firm Reliance Media Works fell by over 8%, Reliance Capital by 7%, Reliance Communications by 6.7%t and Reliance Broadcast by 5.7%

Why should these people cry when their companies shares are hammered.
The Reliance group may have given wealth to people but they have also cheated them.
Who doesn't remember the Reliance Power IPO.
Since then personally I will never apply for any Reliance ADAG IPO and I have exited all his shares which included Rcom and Reliance Power.
They make so many mergers and demergers that people are fooled and finally handed over one or two shares for which there is no point in going demat.
They form new companies, collect money and then wipe out the shares of that company by merging it into the parent company.
We all remember Reliance Petroleum and Reliance Industries episodes.
Anil Ambani has been the worst culprit and he should not cry if his companies are punished by bears, they deserve what they are getting.
I understand he did his MBA from some foreign university.
Seeing his performance, it speaks very poorly of the university.
There are some groups who also fool the people by these mergers and demergers and delisting scams.
The Essar group is also famous for this.
Any group which regularly comes to the market to mop up money creates suspicion.
The Modern group of the Guptas and the HDC (Hindusthan Development Corp), Modi group were two such examples.
You can see where they lie now.
The Suzlon, Unitech and DLF group also comes in this bracket.
When any group comes regulary to the market and collect money, they do not utilize the money judiciously. They mismanage it and the results are there for all to see.

Complaint ignored by MCI

MCI "Just Ignores" Complaints Against the Errant Doctors

In a shocking display of arrogance and hostile attitude towards the hapless victims of malpractice, a member of the Medical Council of India (MCI) Ethics Committee has candidly stated to “just ignore” the concerns expressed by the victims of medical/ethical negligence. PBT president, Dr. Kunal Saha, wrote last week against MCI’s handling of the complaints lodged by ordinary citizens that have been delayed extensively including the complaint against the corrupt ex-MCI head, Dr. Ketan Desai, who is still trying to make a return to the MCI.

A letter (via email) in this context was obtained by PBT in which Dr. A.K. Mahapatra, a member of the MCI Ethics Committee, has written to Dr. Arun Bal, chairman of MCI Ethics Committee, and categorically stated just to “ignore” the victims’ concerns showing a deep disdain toward the people who are trying to find justice against the delinquent physicians (see the email).

PBT has already sent a protest letter to Dr. S.K. Sarin, chairman of MCI “Board of Governors”, to immediately remove Dr. Mahapatra from the Ethics Committee in view of his explicit expression of hostility and insensitivity towards the innocent victims of medical crimes who have come to the MCI seeking justice.

Ironically, Dr. Mahapatra is also the head of Neurosurgery at the AIIMS hospital in Delhi where one of his junior doctors was recently charged with a heinous crime for sexually assaulting an 8-year old child who was recovering from surgery.

PBT has already demanded permanent cancellation of the medical registration of this pedophile doctor at AIIMS to which Dr. Mahapatra has shown little concern. In fact, the MCI Ethics Committee has also remained silent on this issue until now.

The MCI Ethics Committee with members like Dr. Mahapatra cannot be trusted for a fair and impartial investigation of complaints against doctors. The new MCI was established last year after disbandment of the previous MCI which was riddled with corruption following arrest of Dr. Ketan Desai.

The MCI must show complete transparency and honesty in their performance in order to restore public trust in healthcare. Ordinary people and victims of malpractice who have approached the MCI seeking justice against corrupt and/or negligent medicos must receive justice. They must be informed candidly about handling of their complaints by the MCI members behind closed-doors. People of India do not need another Desai and corrupt cronies to run the MCI.

The above is from the blog of PBT http://mail.google.com/mail/?hl=en&shva=1#inbox/12e3b37e07ce06fa . This is one organisation which is fighting medical negligence and corruption by the medical profession

Mobocracy

Mob assaults duo near murder spot
A STAFF REPORTER
Two suspected snatchers said to be fleeing on a motorcycle were severely beaten up on Wednesday near the spot where Rajib Das was stabbed by a group of louts while he was trying to save his sister two days ago.

To cover the 500 metres from Barasat police station to Wednesday’s crime scene, the police took half an hour according to local people and 10 minutes according to the district police chief.

Asked why cops took 10 minutes to travel half a kilometre, a senior officer said: “It takes time to bring the jeep out.”

He had no answer when asked why the force needed a car to travel half a kilometre during an emergency when they could have walked to the spot faster.

Jayanta Baul and Dilip Das had been beaten up badly by the time the police reached them around 12.30pm.

When some people suggested that the duo be handed over to the police, the mob retorted: “We don’t trust them.”

Officers admitted that the tendency to deliver “instant justice” taking advantage of police inaction elsewhere could prove dangerous.

At Barasat hospital, Das’s condition was said to be critical. Baul is stable, said a doctor.

“Their motorcycle got stuck in a traffic jam and a mob chasing them, screaming ‘thief thief’, caught up with them and dragged them down,” said a witness, Haradhan Biswas.

A gold chain they were accused of snatching from a woman at Hridaypur minutes ago was apparently found in Baul’s trouser pocket.

The place where the duo were assaulted is around 300 metres from the spot where Rajib was attacked on Monday night and about 500 metres from Barasat police station.

“Some of us pleaded with the mob that they be handed over to the police but the majority did not want that,” said local resident Asit Das.

According to many like Das and Biswas, the police reached about 30 minutes after the assault began.

“We rushed to the spot as soon as we got to know about the incident and rescued the duo from the mob,” said Rahul Srivastava, the superintendent of police, who has been asked to explain the police’s alleged laxity in connection with Rajib’s death.

I had just this morning mentioned that when the police do not do their duty, the mob will take it upon themselves to mete out justice which may not be to the liking of the genteel folk.
Remember the French Revolution and recently the Iranian and Tunisian Revolution.
Echoes of these are being felt all across the Arab world where dictators have been ruling for the last two or three decades.
Fortunately in India we have the power to change our government by voting but we do have the choice of choosing our representatives for all the candidates are just plain rotten thieves and murderers and good people will not stand because these politicians have made the whole arena a cesspool of corruption.

Police Cowardice - Who is to blame?

Five armed policemen on duty in bungalows of big bosses not enough to save a boy
OUR BUREAU

Feb. 16: The way 16-year-old Rajib Das was left at the mercy of his murderers has dredged up a litany of lapses symptomatic of the rot in the Bengal administration.

• The screams of Rinku Das to save her brother from drunks who had pounced on the siblings in Barasat were ignored by as many as five uniformed and armed policemen on duty within earshot. A sixth, apparently off duty, was also around.

• A constable, along with the “off-duty” colleague, had strayed from the assigned post in the neighbouring bungalow and was standing at the district magistrate’s gate when Rinku rushed in, according to officials. This suggests that the purported rule cited by the guard inside the district magistrate’s bungalow to Rinku —that he is not allowed to leave his assigned post — is applied only selectively.

• The two constables — at least one would have been armed as night-duty policemen are supposed to carry weapons — could have rushed to the rescue of the boy who was being assaulted less than 100 metres down the road.

• If the constables did not want to take a chance without verification, they could have alerted at least four of their armed colleagues.

• The three bungalows closest to where the 23-year-old Rinku was standing and wailing for help are assigned to the three senior-most officials entrusted with the task of administering North 24-Parganas (Barasat is the district headquarters). The occupants of the three bungalows are the district magistrate, the superintendent of police and the additional SP.

• The girl was screaming and thumping the gates of the district magistrate’s bungalow but none in the leafy VIP zone stirred to enquire or offer help. All one constable did was give her the number of the police station.

• District magistrate and IAS officer Vinod Kumar was so dismissive yesterday that he had hastily denied Rinku’s account, basing his conclusion on an “inquiry” and without drawing attention to the detail that two guards were on duty behind his gates which the call centre employee had rattled desperately.

• The extent of callousness deepened following disclosures today that the district magistrate had not briefed the government on the gravity of the incident. “I came to know of it late. It happened on Monday night. The boy died yesterday. I should have been informed much earlier. I got to know of it only this morning,” chief secretary Samar Ghosh said at Writers’ Buildings.

The reluctance of uniformed personnel to go to the aid of citizens in grave danger, the eagerness to hide behind rules, the penchant to brazen out inadequacies and the information black hole that stretches to the top echelons of the administration unfolded in Barasat but they are by no means confined to the town. Every resident of Bengal will have at least one instance of official callousness to recount from everyday life.

One of the constables who had expressed his inability to help the boy has been suspended. The allegation of inaction against the five other policemen in the bungalows is being probed.

District magistrate Kumar and SP Rahul Srivastava, who are neighbours, have been asked to submit a written explanation on the incident and the delay in initiating action.

On Tuesday, Kumar had told The Telegraph: “I’ve heard about the allegation but after conducting an inquiry, I found it was not true.” On Wednesday, numerous calls to his phone went unanswered.

“They had not even reported the matter properly to their bosses at Writers’. Those who could have realised the gravity of the matter were kept in the dark,” a police officer said.

Apparently after reading media reports, chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee as well as several other politicians made a beeline to the boy’s home today. Bhattacharjee’s convoy was stopped by a crowd of angry residents who booed and shouted slogans.

Two persons have been detained to verify if they had any role in the crime, though the culprits are yet to be identified. “The two are being interrogated. Efforts are on to nab all those involved. The CID and the district police have been asked to ensure prompt action,” additional director-general (law and order) Surajit Kar Purkayastha said.

Police constable Nitya Gopal Karmakar was suspended on the basis of SP Srivastava’s report that he did not intervene to help Rinku and Rajib. On Monday night, when Rinku was returning home from office in the city on her brother Rajib’s bicycle, a bunch of goons accosted them, sprinkled liquor on her and tried to take her away.

When Rajib protested, he was pulled down from the cycle and beaten up. With passers-by ignoring calls for help, Rinku rushed to the nearby district magistrate’s bungalow where Karmakar was standing outside the gate and pleaded for help, only to be turned away.

Purkayastha said Karmakar was on duty at the adjoining bungalow of the district’s additional SP but had sauntered down to the bungalow of the district magistrate with another constable. It was Karmakar to whom Rinku had turned for help.

“Karmakar had not tried to prevent a cognisable offence. He had not tried to protect a life when he had the chance. He neglected a basic duty of every policeman,” said chief secretary Ghosh.

“The girl was screaming hysterically,” an officer said. “So on a still night, the policemen in the nearby bungalows would have surely heard the girl’s cries. It is criminal that none of them responded.”

“The policemen should have treated the matter with high priority. A life could have easily been saved with their intervention,” Purkayastha said.

The state government has declared a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the Das family. “The compensation is just a preliminary assistance. Such a death cannot be compensated with just monetary aid,” finance minister Asim Dasgupta said. “We are open to offering a job to his (Rajib’s) sister,” he added.

District magistrate Vinod Kumar (in picture) had said on Tuesday that an inquiry had found Rinku’s allegation was untrue, prompting the girl to dub him a liar. On Wednesday, the chief secretary said he got to know of Monday’s incident only on Wednesday morning. Kumar, who served as Hooghly DM during the Singur agitation, has been asked to submit a written explanation

People are asking how this could occur.I'll give the reasons.
1. 30 years of misrule by the Left Front is the main cause.
The most suitable person should be appointed for any post.
A policeman should be strongly built and he should be courageous.
When you appoint persons to these posts based on political affiliations or just on caste basis based on the government short-sighted policies on reservations you get results such as the above and what we saw outside the American Consulate in Kolkata some years back when terrorist attacked it and policemen ran like mice and hit behind cars although they were armed.
If you are are weak and are not courageous, even with a gun in you hand, you will be a coward.

2. The policy of politicians to have policemen to just look after their own security is another cause. The policemen have started thinking that they have just to look after the security of the politicians and their service is safe. They just do not care for the security of the common man. If you want the policemen to be efficient the security of ALL POLITICIANS SHOULD BE REMOVED.

3. Instead of treating criminals as parasites, to be avoided, our politicians flaunt the criminals working in their parties.Whenever, any criminal is arrested, the politicians rush to the police station with their gang of other criminals to have him released. Criminals are also known to flaunt their association with politicians and the police. Whenever they go and threaten any law abiding citizen, they say, go and tell the police, so-and-so dada had come. I have had to face this type of taunt.

4. Our judiciary is to be blamed to a large extent.
They give bail to even murderers, rapists, extortionist and kidnappers without considering that these people will just continue their acts and threaten witnesses to change their testimony. That is one of the reasons why so many people do not go to the police with complaints or turn hostile in courts.

5. Our judicial process is too slow.
Fast court tracks should be appointed for crimes committed by murderers, rapists, extortionist, kidnappers and terrorists.
Such cases should have hearings on day-to-day basis and while the trial goes on. the criminal should remain in jail. No bail should be granted.
Unless this is done, you will increasingly find people taking the law into their hands to punish criminals. I can assure you that if the three boys who committed the above crime had been caught by the people, they would have been burnt alive.
It is surprising that the politicians who visited the family to shed crocodile tears were spared.
I am sure that none of them would have visited the family if an election was not round the corner.
The policemen who were on duty at the three bungalows should be dismissed and so should the District Magistrate, Vinod Kumar.
I don't understand how he could smile after this incident.
We cannot have a liar as D M.
It sets a very bad example of our IAS service.

An Ad to beat all Ads

Roadside ads can be destructive as this one is sure to be.
Although it conveys its message, I wonder how many accidents it caused.

'I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more..
Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying
DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND,
It seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.
(What they hear today would have Curdled their Hair)
'

I read the other day where some scientist thinks
it's possible to put a man on the moon by the
end of the century.
They even have some fellows they call astronauts
preparing for it down in Texas .

'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a
contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball?
It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be
making more than the President. (Many, many times More)

'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen
appliances would be electric.
They are even making electric typewriters(RememberThem??) now.

'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays..
I see where a few married women are having to work
to make ends meet.

'It won't be long before young couples are going to
have to hire someone
To watch their kids so they can both work.

'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the
door to a whole lot of foreign business.

'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the
Government takes half our income in taxes.
I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best
people to congress.

'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather,
But I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.

'There is no sense going to Lincoln
or Omaha anymore for a weekend,
It costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.

'No one can afford to be sick anymore,
At $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for
my blood.'

'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'

Some panoramic views of
Ex-Telecom Minister Raja's House .....

Think Before You Vote.
Could someone tell us what does DEMOCRACY exactly mean!!

However, the pictures are incomplete.
It would be in the interest of people to have pictures of the last 5 or 6 ministers who were associated with the Telecom Department, Railways, Roads and other lucrative portfolios to find out how fat these pigs have become.

Strip Tease

Cletus and Billy Bob

Cletus is passing by Billy Bob's hay barn one day when
through a gap inthe door he sees Billy Bob doing a slow
and sensual striptease in front ofan old green John Deere.

With clenched buttocks, he performs a slow pirouette and
gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls,
followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward
and in a classic striptease move and lets his overalls
fall down to his hips revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt.

Grabbing both sides of his shirt he rips it apart to reveal
his stained tee shirt underneath. With a final flourish he
tears the tee shirt from his body and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay.

Having seen enough Cletus rushes in and says "what the heck
are you doingBilly Bob?"

"Jeez Cletus ,ya scared me," says an obviously embarrassed
Billy Bob, but me and the Ole lady been having trouble
lately in the bedroom department, and the Therapist suggested
I do something sexy to a tractor."

The origin of SHIT

Manure : In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common.

It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas of course. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen.
Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOOOM!

Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening

After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane.

Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ' , (Stow High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day.

You probably did not know the true history of this word.

Neither did I.

I had always thought it was a golf term.

An Angel says

An Angel says, 'Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice.'

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4.. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your mental health.
5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns . If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety .. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut).. This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a book of scriptures with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19 Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape while driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's time to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good 'Thank you Lord
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people (they probably need it the most).
32. Sit on your ego.
33 Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down..
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe.
36 Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU.
